Help...anyone with a Reus stereo
Help...anyone with a Reus stereo
I was going to to order a system from Rick, but would really like to hear one first. Does anyone have one or know somebody who has one in the South Jersey/Phila area that could let me listen.....Please.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Neil
My very good friend/customer Todd has the system in his car
Sounds like a concert hall
I'm sure he would be more than happy to let you hear it, his car is at my shop quite often or at his office in W. Paterson

Thanks Ron,
I was hoping to find someone in south Jersey, but I will keep it in mind. Ken said it sounded great at the show. How was/is the bass. Rick said he has done a lot of installs around here and I was hoping it would be someone on the board.

Don't bother
Just do it! I bought my system without hearing it. If you want accurate imaging and an incredibly clear LOUD system, then you can't do any better. Make sure you do the Eclipse headunit upgrade because although it sounds great with the stock headunit, the sound is only as good as the source! I tried Premier by Pioneer and Alpine but the Eclipse is in a different league. Nakamichi might be comparable but there are too many problems with their headunits.
I forgot to add, since you have a cab, make sure you get the midbass driver for the tunnel. I'm not sure if it is an optional item or not but it makes a world of difference. I believe I was one of the first to get one of those.

Mana,
Thanks, I saw your other posts.
Robert,
Rick did not mention the midbass driver. He told me about a tweeter that goes in the mirror. What is it where does it go?

Midbass driver...
The original Reus system that I had in my '01 cab did not include the midbass driver. In '02 Porsche switched to the Bose system as their upgraded system. The Bose system includes a subwoofer in the tunnel behind the A/C controls/shifter area. That's why there is a bulge in the floor and the floor mats are assymetrical left to right. Anyways, I kept complaining to Rick that my system had plenty of bass but lacked the tight punch of a sealed enclosure and lacked accurate midbass thump. He made me a special misbass driver to fit into my tunnel (I did not have the Bose system) and the system is now absolutely perfect.
The Bose sub is a small driver sitting in an enclosure that has various tunnels and ports. I guess you could say, Bose tends to make tuned bass using tiny speakers and large enclosures. There might be a lot of bass but it's only tight at certain frequencies and sounds sloppy at others. You would be surprised at what they do. Rick showed me some of the Bose crap that he has ripped out. Some of their "subwoofer" systems use 4" drivers!
The Reus midbass driver is a nice 8" driver in a sealed enclosure with an additional amp to drive it. Made all the difference in the world. Very nice addition to the 10" subwoofer that the system comes with. It also adds a tremendous amount of very accurate and powerful punch because of the sealed enclosure design. If you hear a system with and without the midbass driver, there is no doubt which one you will like better.
Rick may not have mentioned it because it might be part of his standard system now. He'll know what I am talking about. Tell him Robert sent you.

Yea Robert,
The system he describes are as follows
First level= new speakers and amps retain head unit.
Second level= above and sub in the trunk.
Third level= adds the sub in the car to the above levels.
And you add to that a new head if you want to.
He said the head unit there is really pretty good and there is no problem keeping it.
Still looking for guys in the area with the systems. Rick said there are plenty down here but maybe none are on this board. I don't know.
Still hoping for a reply. Rick was suppose to get me some numbers. I'll call him tomorrow.

Could you post or PM me some ballpark prices when you figure out how much this is going to cost you? I'd love to upgrade my sound and have been curious as to what a quality upgrade costs...
Neil,
I have had 4 Reus systems, including my last two turbos and last 2 trucks. I can tell you their systems are incredible. They build a system that you don't know is there. The buyer of my last Turbo and Truck got in and looked things over, seemed pleased, then they heard the stereo and both were immediate buyers!
Rick is great to deal with. I am in Calif. so no help to you on listening, but can vouch for Rick and the product he puts out.

He gave me three different quotations for the Cayenne and willing to fly to logan airport and do installation in my house. He is a good guy. I will get his system when I have enough fund
I have 4 Reus systems in various cars. Reus is the best you can possibly buy. He isn't cheap, but neither was your Porsche! It's probably the most satisfying mod you can get.
If you only listen to classical/jazz the level 2 system is fine. If you like pop, rock, rap, dance, etc... you NEED the level 3 system. The bass response in level 2 is fine for 90% of listeners, but it's not punchy enough for me.
