Is a smoother ride possible?

I have a 2005 TTS, stock. I moved from a 2010 Boxster S. For the most part, I love the TTS, but as it's a DD I would like to improve the ride - it's not nearly as "livable" as the Boxster. It's a bit of a beating on normal roads at speeds less than 50.

What, if anything, can be done?

You sure it's stock? My turbo is all stock in terms of suspension other than lowering springs. Yes it's not like driving a Cadillac, but easily liveable on Canadian roads and Dallas roads are much better. Unless your the original owner, I'd stick my head under there and take a look you might be surprised.

Tires and tire pressure can affect "ride" dramatically. Are you on the stock rims or larger diameter? Try lowering your pressures and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the advice - I'll check again for any mods. The rims are stock and the tires are new and did make an improvement. I'll try playing around with the pressure a little.

If ride is important, smaller rims, and bigger ratio sidewalls (to maintain rolling radius) would certainly make the ride better, but the downside is that steering will be/feel less direct (and the car will look at lot worse).

Looks like you have stock 18" on it so that's not the cause. See if you have the X73 package (factory sport suspension) that is a bit stiff. Another option is the PPS 10's which when set at a soft setting 3f and 5r are more compliant than the factory springs. (Just don't carried away with lowing it too much or you be condemned to suspension upgrade parts hell).

HI,I switched to 285/35/18 rears and 235/40/18 fronts when I first bought my car because I did want a better ride,a little more pot hole protection and a little more height for driving in Chicago winters....I am not a track road racer so I did not mind giving a little grip up....

Tire selection can make a difference. I got a better ride going from worn Bridgestone S02's to Hankook ventus. S02's were better than PZeros before that.

There was a significant difference when I moved to the Hankooks a month ago. I'll check into the PPS 10s.

Any other options?

He meant Bilstein PSS10

Also, GT2 size tires do help the ride a bit.
