how to launch at the track?
how do i launch my 2001 Stock TT, for the utmost power and take off? i have problems with launching that car, and i've had it for a year. do i rev it up to like 3,000 and dump the clutch, or what ? thanks for the input on the upgrades by the way. im just trying to get my money out of it, if im going to spend money like that!
Thanks,
Thanks,
First, turn PSM off. Big mistake if you leave it on.
Next, I blip-rev my engine to about 2700rpm and do a quick clutch slip. I don't sidestep (dump) it, but I do slip it rather quickly. As you initially start to move, I give it full throttle while fully releasing the clutch. The tires will spin a little, but it should net you a nice 60ft time. It is more about feel. You almost want to try and make your rear wheels spin so that you do not bog the engine.
I was able to cut a 1.79sec 60ft time with that method.
If you want to practice, try making your rear wheels spin on a normal road. Then, back it off from there until you get a tiny bit of spin and no engine bogging.

Mods:
- turbo exhaust v8.0 (power gain)
- Bailey diverter valves (brought me back to stock boost levels, so no real "gain" over stock)
- 19" HRE 540Rs (added rotational mass, so a negative gain)
Everything else was stock. I even had luggage in the front hatch. I also had 28k on my stock plugs which hurt me a little as well.
I figure that the power gain with the exhaust was cancelled out with the added rotational mass of the HREs/Tires. I feel rather confident that I could put my stock 18" hollow-spokes/tires back on and cut a higher trap speed and perhaps net out a slightly faster ET as well.

first of all.. change ur plugs asap... put the new beru (6)s... thats what is recommended. ur oil change as well if u didnt do it this year.
I also drop th e clutch at around 2700 rpms... slip it a bit... take some air out of the tires as well.... I even experimented with 23 psi...
