GIAC chip

I live in the Seattle area and know there is a local GIAC dealer that can chip my tt. However, is this the same program that EVO, IA, Akkurat, etc. run? For example if I go for a stage 2, does the chip just involve flashing the ECU or does it requiring proper tuning of the engine. I am thinking about getting my more free flowing exhaust, dv, and EVO air intake put on locally: can I then just take my car into the local GIAC dealer and get the "real" stage 2 upgrade?

Call, Stephan at Imagine, Board Sponsor. You can take out your ECU, FedEx it to him. He can flash it and FedEx it back in one day. I would get the switch while I was at it if I were you. Being able to go back to stock for dealer service is cool.

thanks for the supply. I am a little nervous about getting at and taking out the ECu though: I know this has been posted with photos before. Also doesn't your ECU record what your engine does? So even though the flashed ECU may be undetectable won't the dealer wonder why my ECU has recorded an increased rpm or boost?

Pratt-

Unless you purchase something like EVO's monster turbo kits, the standard GIAC K24 and K16 programs are alike.

There will be no special tuning required for your car even with the addition of the intake, exhaust and dv's.

Let me know if you need further clarification.

Either EVO, ourselves or IA (and a few others) can do the EVO/GIAC specific stuff if you send it in (we can bench flash it if you want). Head over to www.giacusa.com or EVOms.com and see what the local dealer is. I believe there is one up there

Thanks!
