take a look at this 335i with upgraded turbos, I estimate 40 whp more than the other 335i

Wow pretty interesting video... That's pretty much all I have to say or can say about that... I love both BMW and Porsche, my race car is BMW and gt2 seems to be quite fast in it's own right...

All I know is that the N54 equipped 335i (pre-2011 model) can be tuned pretty easily to make some impressive power.

I guess I don't know why this is so surprising. I had 2 335's and they are very, very fast. If my 996tt was not spooled my 335 would just walk away from it till about 100mph.

A full bolt on dyno tuned stock turbo 335 can hit 450 wheel, and car with the RB turbos can get well above 500 wheel.

Just do the math, the cars weight about the same, but one has far more mods then the other. . . .

Just to clarify. You are talking modded 335i to stock 996TT? Because stock for stock, not a chance. The "surprise" being discussed is that this video states they are beating a GT2. Even a modded 335i would struggle to do what that video shows. Just look at trap speeds alone of modded 335i's to stock GT2. From a roll like this that would not happen.

Also a 335i comes in at over 3500 lbs. That is almost a 400lb add to the GT2.

This race is vs a 996tt not a GT2, so the weight is the same.

Yes a modified 335 will do this to a stock 996 . . . But so will an evo, sti, mustang ect.

Any car can be made fast . . .

how much power can the stock motor in the 335's take?
I own both a 2011 335 and a 2003 GT2 and the difference is very considerable between both cars.
My 335 is a stock daily driver though..

Do you have an N54 (two turbos)? If so these are easy and cheap to tune. The 2011 could be N55 single turbo, and have alot fewer products for them yet. Either way is about $500 for 60-80 Wheel hp boost.

FWIW I had both a procede and JB1-4 and liked the JB products a bit better.

2011 335i is N55 engine, till 2009 (2010 model US) 335i used N54 platform based on the same 3.0 block and 2 TD03 turbos by Mitsubishi, instead N55 uses one twin scroll turbo.

N54 pushed to the limits I saw close and above of 500 whp on dynojet, I own also a fully modded 335 including turbo upgrade from Turbo Dynamics, they are a little smaller than RB turbos from US and did 383 whp (mustang) on a safe configuration, I think my car is able with these turbos (pushed to the limit) using racegas and lots of meth, as fueling is their problem, for 400-410 whp on mustang, multiply that by 1.1 or 1.12 or whatever and you will get dynojet figures.

Anyway at that power levels automatic transmission already has to be rebuild, it wont last. My car is MT and had a lot of issues even with upgraded clutches rated for that power. DKG or double clutch tranny are out of question at that power levels.

I am telling you from my own experience, a FULLY modded and stock turbo 335i (boost pushed to the limit) can outrun a stock GT2 till 115-120 mph, beyond I think, not sure, gt2 will recover and get in front.

If this will help I trapped 117-118 mph 1/4 mile stock tires with a fatass cabrio 335i - 4100 lbs ! almost street configuration. e90(limo) or e92(coupe) will trap >125mph on this setup (my x50 flashed, exhaust, 5 bar trapped only 125 mph, not more), there is also one car on stock turbos but using NOS that trapped 133 mph and 6.95 60-130!!! This is like a k24/18 or not ?!?! IS this goodbye stock gt2 or not ?

N55s dont know to much of max power levels but over 400 hp crank are easy to get
