Thanks to Fred Courtot, Devek, Brian Haske, Hooked on Driving, and Carlson for an awesome track day. Special thanks to all those who served as human starters after the one in my car went out! I guess I owe some free dyno tests!

Had a lot of fun out there guys. I met toooo many people to mentioned everybody, so thanks to all of you!

It became a double day for me. First day with Devek, and then the 2nd day with Luc's NCRC event. Both were great for different reasons. THe NCRC event was going to be my first ever wheel to wheel race.

For those of you who did not attend, YES, I was the first guy to go off track. A combination of a hot track, and over zealous driver (what can I say), a different tire combo and alignment set up, all helped to spin my car and make it dusty.

Man, I was hoping not to be that guy, being the only Viper there. My car felt really loose and I had one of the pro drivers take it out in one of the sessions and he too looped the car and got black flagged, telling me my car was giving almost no reaction time to correct the issue. Overheating was a concern too.

I stayed for the NCRC event the next day, and changed out my tires. 3 out of 4 were corded on the inside. I had the wing adjusted for more downforce and then went out for qualifying. The car handled a lot better (not as loose.) I started to pick up some speed and then I flat spotted my front tires down one of the straights. tsk tsk! I need some ABS! Arnaud in his white GT3 posted a good enough time to qualifying 2nd in our class.

The green flag was thrown and we had 10 laps of fun. By the 10th lap, I had moved up to 2nd in my class and ended up overcooking the very last turn of the last lap, putting all 4 wheels into the gravel. DOh! What a blast anyway! The 2nd race Arnaud drove like a madman and held us back until both he and I overheated our cars and had to come in at the same time. Rumors started up that we had collided on track, since all of a sudden our cars went over the Magic Mountain turn and then we came in. No such truth to the rumor. What a blast! If only it weren't 110 degrees out on the track!

Nice Job Manny, how were the times on saturday ... ?

It was just toooo hot. Track temp was stated as over 170 degrees and max air temp was 117 at around 1:30 ish. We checked air temp at 4pm and recoreded 109.

BUT, we had lots of tract time and Lunch was AWESOME!

Next year we need to do this later or earlier in the year...

Regards,
Marc

Marc, I am not sure of the track times. I think our class was close and running around a 2:05. I didn't pick up the sheet, but perhaps Arnaud knows. In qualifying I think I ran a 2:07 or something like that. With Slicks, perhaps the times would have been better, but it was just HOTTTTT!

Doing it earlier in the year would be a good idea. It just happened to be the 1st weekend out there with triple digit temps -- luck of the draw, or lack thereof.

Seeing some nice action pics! I had a great time learning the lines and being first time out on a new track for me. I have some good pics, but having some login issues with my server so can't host them until its resolved. I'll email out the group shots so maybe you guys can post a couple of them for me.
Also...Thanks again for all the people who worked hard to organize this event!!
