Boost controller 996 Turbo

Hi guys , i need some advised.
i would to buy this product :

Greddy Profec B Spec II Boost Controller

Right now i'm running 1,4 bar everyday, but for track days, i would like to lower the boost to 1,0 bar. Is it the product I need ? Do I need to reprogram the ECU ? is it plug and play ?

Happy New Year to 6speed , from France

You can use it but your wastegates would need to be set to open at 1bar "on the gate" with out any boost controller hooked up(no hoses to them). Then use the ebc to make the 1.4 your car is tuned for. In other words just wastegate would be 1bar. boost controller on would be 1.4 bar and you would not use the N75 valve anymore, you would remove it from controlling the boost but leave it wired in so that the CEL would not come on. There is more but lets start here. You can use the boost controller to do more but above is easy.. For now. lol

It's definately not plug and play and is best left to someone that knows what they're doing. Very easy to get something wrong and screw up your car. And I'm speaking from experience.

Very inexpensive set up

I would recommend the HKS EVC. I've had three Greddy units fail on me. They blow more than Jenna Jameson.

you cant use a ebc without a retune for it....
and when you turn it off you will run the minimum wg pressure...

you would only need a re tune if the boost controller was used to raise the boost above what is is tuned for originally. Not so in this case. OP wishes to use the boost controller to LOWER the boost to 1bar from his tuned 1.4bar. The ECU will NOT see tables/maps that it does not already see at 1.4 bar.

Question K24/18g upgrade - do I need the Greddy EBC?

I have an '04 996TT Tip and I'm about to upgrade the turbos to K24/18g along with 60lb injectors, a GT2 fuel pump, and the SpeedTech 2.5" quiet exhaust. I upgraded the DVs, plugs and F-pipe previously and got a Softronic tune which I'm about to update for the new configuration.

Since I have a Tip, why shouldn't I set a maximum boost via the wg (or elsewhere?) and not even mess with the Greddy EBC?

I'll admit, when I first put this mod idea together, I didn't appreciate the vulnerability of the Tip to shall we say, "excess torque." I planned on conservative driving while my bride could see me, and then planned to turn the Greddy to "11" when I wanted to kick butt. Now I think 1.4bar occasionally is about all I can get away with.

Should I be upgrading the torque converter now too?

Appreciate any thoughts on all this.

Be careful with 1.4 bar on a TIP.. I would run 1.2bar...
