wheel offsets??

I am a bit confused on wheel offsets and spacers.

I believe that our 996TTs have the following as stock wheels:

Front: 8*18 ET50
Rear: 11*18 ET45

So if I want wider rims to support track tires, and want to go to a 9" rim in the front and a 12" rim in the rear, should the offset increase or decrease to make sure there is no rubbing???

In other words, If I am looking at a rear wheel with a 12*18 ET 63, will that work or make things worse?

Also with a 12*18 ET63, would spacers help or hurt?

I know this is a basic question, but I cannot seem to get my head around it.

Thanks

Hey Joe

A 12" ET63 wheel would give you.....
31mm LESS inner clearance
And the wheel would be tucked under by 5mm
(when compared to a 11" ET45)

Have a look at the link below and see if that helps you out

Joe you're trying to get front offset at 40 or so and rear offset ay 30 or so, with those you'll have no problems. at +63 you'd need at least 25 mm spacer or more. Hope this makes sense

If your unsure about how the wheels work (offsets, backspacing ect) The best and safest thing to do is talk to a reputable wheel company who is manufacturing your track wheels to ensure you get proper fitment. Let them suggest offsets and sizing for you based on your goals.

This is for performance purposes I assume and not to putt around going to car shows. You want proper sizing. The last thing you want to do is purchase a set of wheels and have a problem on the track.
