Does anyone have a sound clip of a straight piped 996TT? Sharky? My catless Ruf exhaust is relatively quiet . . . at least compared to a Fabspeed. How much louder are straight pipes as compared to a Fabspeed (which is fricken loud)?

What's funny is that those mp3s on cargraphic's site are sound clips of Lou's car as far as I can tell. And he had the loud, not the TETR which is what they say it is. Hmm ....

 

Here is a video of mine with FVD Race Pipes which replace both cats and mufflers! I ran them for 3 months before putting my exhaust back on, then put them back on a month later only to take them off another month later... They are fun to have for a little while

Thanks Evan. What size piping is used for the FVD straight pipes?Why did you repeatedly remove and replace the straight pipes?

Is it my imagination, or are the straight pipes actually quieter than a Fabspeed exhaust (doesn't make sense)? How much HP is gained by switching from a catless exhuast running through a muffler to straight pipes? More than 5HP? More than 10 HP?

THey go from 3 1/4" (Size of the turbo outlet) to 2 1/4" (Size of stock tip opening).

I take them off and put them on as they are too loud to run yearround as my car is my daily driver!! Like I said 3 months was the longest and that was stretching it... Worrying about neighbors and cops gets old after a couple months...

The pipes are louder than the fabspeed, but resonate less!! I got a much worse headache with the fabspeed, much quicker!!

You would not gain much power from the switch, maybe 5 (assuming your not running a catless stock exhaust). The good thing, is that because the pipes do go from bigger to smaller and have couple bends they retain some backpressure and therefore you won't lose tq.
