Thanks again Evan. If Im only going to gain 5 HP, I will stick with the muffler, sans cats, and retain the ability to sneak home late at night without waking the SO.

No problem!! Its not the power they produce that makes them attractive, its the reduced lag!! I run an FVD Muffler with no cats all the time and the race pipes spool MUCH quicker. That is there advantage (and a good 30-40LBS weight reduction back there).

What setup is Fred's old car running? I heard that thing in person and it was RIDICULOUS. I mean just standing behind the car hurt my ears. Seriously I hope none of you other guys are louder than that...

In terms of RPMs, how much quicker is the spooling with straight pipes?

Do some straight pipes cause a loss of torque? If so, why and how can it be avoided?

I would say a good 300-400rpm reduction in lag, but have never really watched it that close... The boost guage goes up much faster though!!

Normally straight pipes will cause a loss of tq because of the reduced backpressure. To be honest I don't know why as I am not a tech , but that is what many have said. Ways to avoid this is to create SOME backpressure which we have done with the bends and gradually decreseing diameter. I/we have never dynoed a car with them to see if it has actually lost TQ, but I do not feel any loss (or gain).

GENERAL LEE is infamous around these parts
I listened to the fabspeed loud exhaust again. That one seems to sound the best. Although, the 5th video on Cargraphics site is right there with it. Unfortunately they have them all labeled the same except one. Does anyone know what cideo #5 is? Why is the loud version cheaper than the rest?

AND........... where do I get those trick *** big pipes.

As I was sayin' in this thread we weren't planning on ever "sellin" them but if you have a stock exhaust you want to send I'll talk to James and see how much time he needs/wants for it?
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...threadid=26402

But be warned they are FRICKING loud.

LOL a "must"? The best story I have with those was when I was idling at the gas station (well the turbo timer was keeping the car on) and a Cop pulls up and says "I heard you from a couple of miles away off of the 101. I was looking around trying to find some kind of harley and finally I decided to come in for some gas and pulled off and here you are". I appologized and I was having "exhaust issues". He took a look and said, "Hey I can see your turbos and I think the 'issue' is that you've lost your cats!". I replied saying, "Sorry sir, I had noticed a slight change in sound level recently and think with the heat caused by my bigger turbos that perhaps they had melted away"

He shook his head
