i noticed recently that during on or offramps to the freeway, if im giving it the beans, i will hear a very faint, slight rubbing sound. i cant say frnt or rear either way, but im assuming rear, as there is rubbing away of the inner fender liner. it is ONLY under aggressive turning such as i mentioned that i hear it. here is my setup:
RIMS
19x8.5 +51 fronts
19x11 +45 rears
then i have spacers on, front 7mm, rear 14mm.
TIRES
245/35-19 fronts
305/30-19 rears
SPRINGS
H&R springs all around

no with this setup, i cant quite fit a finger between the tires and fender in rears, and can fit 2 fingers (stacked fingers, like when you cross your fingers) between front tires and fenders.

so in my mind, i am thinking either i am just too low, or i need a touch more spacer in the rear? could it also be anything else shock or spring related?

after searching, people with rub issues had it in the front with full lock, or in the rear almost immediately. my issue is fine until aggressive turn in as mentioned above. thanx

Take a look at the rear liner in front of the rubber turbo hose. When I bought my car I had 305/30 on the back; rubbing went away when I went to the 315/25's.

I had some rubbing on my car just near the turbo inlet pipe.My car is standard apart from GT2 sized tyres (315/30/18)

The arch liner attaches to the lower part of the intercooler mounting bracket. On my car it looked like someone had bent the bracket to get to the clamp on the turbo hose. The problem was you cant bend the bracket back because it hits the turbo before it bends back.

I removed the intercooler, bent the bracket back to the correct shape and refitted everything. This gave about 1/2 inch extra clearance and sorted my problem.

It might be worth checking this area out on your car.

thats right where it is. small hole right at the boost hose. so its just a bit too tall of a tire? that could be countered by raising suspension just a touch right?

I actually went wider and lower; something about those 305/30's, I had Pirelli. Went to 315/25 Toyo, then Continental, no rubbing issues. I'm on Champion RG5, no spacers, 1" lower than standard on coilovers.

Other alternatives,

- Find a way to pull back the liner (And996tt's approach or reshaping with heat?)
- Larger shim to push out the wheels and "ease" the arches
- Depending on wear in the bushings you may have enough slop in the back suspension to allow movement/rubbing.

BTW, what make are the new tires and do you have any suspension upgrades? Attached is where I was at with standard springs and the 305's.
