I was up in Baltimore after Christmas for a few days with the family, but the car was already at Piper Motorsport after the crash. Thanks for the words of encouragement!

On Monday I am leaving for a two month work trip overseas. The car should be getting done around the time I am getting home (I hope!). Fortunately I have top men working on it. The mechanical repairs will be low-drama for Piper, but I have to wait my turn for the body guy (Dale, at Old School Enterprises). He is Maryland. Maybe when I pick it up I will drive it up to Baltimore to meet up with you. We can take some pictures before I bring it back to Virginia.

Not a scratch! That was being lucky indeed. Aquaplaned at 80mph in rain at night, spun 3 times, attacked some trees and rolled over.

Porsche; there is no substitute for crashing safely!

Actually, there is a funny story which goes with the crash... I crashed in Europe not in the UK. So, when everything came to a still, this guy ran up to my car shouting “oh my god, oh my god, are you ok? His next line was, oh my god where is the driver?” as he was looking back towards the trees. I said I am the driver. It took him a good few seconds to get it...

Ps. If the tree which smashed the firewall (door-pillar) would smash into my door, doubtful I would still be around.

Dale's shop is in Clinton, Maryland. I have not been there, but he was the first recommendation from Piper Motorsports, who I trust explicitly. He has done several serious projects for Piper, among others that have received acclaim, so I am very much looking forward to him working his magic on my project!

I will definitely let you know when the car is ready and I am heading that way. Schedule-dependent, I may or may not be able to continue north to my beloved Baltimore.

Since I damaged an intercooler, we decided to upgrade to the 997.2/GT2RS IC's as well. Breaking your old stuff is always the best excuse to get new stuff....right!?

Three err four crashes in my Porsches...

First time in my Boxster fell asleep and drifted over and driver's side front clipped a tire carcass. Broke radiator and some other damage. 75 miles from Wichita.

Then some years later in the same car at stop light when woman behind me decided cars moving to her left was a signal for her to move her's... Trouble is the cars on her left with moving in a left hand turn lane.

She ran into the back of my Boxster at about 5mph. Shoved my car into a car ahead of mine. Driver's side headlight popped out. New bumper covers, front and rear, new headlight and new taillight assembly.

Next had a brand new 08 Cayman S, just 4 weeks old. Other driver on her cell phone and lost and getting directions from someone missed a turn and skidded on damp pavement through 2 lanes of traffic, through an intersection and smashed into my Cayman just at the driver's side front wheel. Both of the Cayman air bags deployed. The impact shoved my car (oh stopped BTW) against the curb on teh right side of the car. The car was totaled.

I used the insurance money from the other driver to buy an 03 Turbo June 19, 2009. Just a few weeks later, on July the 3rd I was on 50 highway on the way to Ely NV and points east when I hit a mule deer.

$25000+ later I had the car back, good as new.

Sincerely,

Macster.

jefe_not is infamous around these parts
December 2011, 1999 C2, at a DE event, with the instructor in the car, in the rain, spun on the drag strip (the straight part of the course at the Memphis race track), and hit a concrete wall. Twice. Driver's side rear and passenger side front. The car will come back a little lighter as I decided to put the 997 conversion on it.

Agreed, I need more seat time and some more DE's (perhaps even at a few different tracks!).

I crashed my Cayman S, lost control on a turn and ended up 20 feet from the point of impact. Car was a total loss

The girl I am currently seeing had an accident in a 996 turbo, the car was t boned by an escalade and split in half, she was in a comma for 2 weeks. She never gets in my car though she says that by the how the car ended up she should not be alive so that says something for the safety of porsches
