Can someone ID this part?

I was cleaning up the battery tray and saw this part. Again it is right under the battery tray. Looks to have a vacuum hose barb but there is nothing connected to it or any hose in the area.

Anyone know what it is and what it is for?

It might be the other end of the battery vent hose connection.

Some else asked this before but I do not remember what it was. There is nothing hooked to it on my car either. Maybe for the evap system? If its has part # 996.606.205.00 on it is a sensor for the fuel system nothing on the barb but it is connected to the plastic line thats just below it in the pic.
