Help me understand the differences between the types of K16 hybrid turbos

When I bought my K16/26 zero clearance turbos a few years ago, it seems as though the main K16 hybrids available at that time were the K16/24, K16/26, and K16/16g. I have been reading a little about K16 billets. I understand that the billets are machined from a solid piece of metal; but beyond the added durability of a billet compressor wheel, what additional advantages does it offer over other similar size wheels of similar design? Or is it that most modern billet compressor wheels have a more efficient design and produce more power than those older hybrid turbos?

I am enjoying my old technology K16/26 hybrids, but am just curious about the newer available technology.

it sucks that nobody responded to this. I would love to read some info about the billet k16s that people are talking about.

In a nutshell the billets are "bigger". You can have 18G+ flow from a newer technology and lighter designed billet wheel. This translates to more efficient movement of air and another big jump up from a 16G. We have seen the billets great for anywhere from 600 to 700+ hp depending on mods.

Wheel redesign not withstanding, the strength of the billet allows machining closer to the hub which gives more effective compressor area.

Curiosity kicks in- How do K16 billets compare to a28s or other turbos in spool and top end? What might be the closest comparisons?

I would say the K16/68 Billets's are about 90% of the A28 up to 6500rpm and 700hp. I have done plenty of 650-700 kits with them and you almost can't feel the difference. Great bang for buck. A28's are awesome turbo's. They are breaking into 800hp territory.
