Turning a non-X50 TT into an X50?
Turning a non-X50 TT into an X50?
My friend here has a 2002 X50 TT and is now considering upgrading his car with some ball bearing Garrets and different coolers so I have a chance to get his stock K24s and X50 ICs for pretty reaonable money. His car had full new engine (engine, turbos, exhaust, everything) fitted at Porsche 20 k miles ago so that's their mileage.
Do you think it is worth doing? That way I would end up with X50 car with software, exhaust and DVs. His car produced around 560 crank hp with such setup and when we raced it was faster than mine, especially in higher speed areas.
560 hp at the crank is what I think should be OK for me, I do not feel the need to go with any hybrids as it makes the list of needed things turn into almost never ending (pump, injectors, clutch, plenum, y-pipe etc etc etc)
Also - is the X50 kit a true bolt on for non-x50 car? Turbos fit manifolds without mods? All the piping is the same?
Please let me know what you guys think.

i think you would really be better off with hybrid 16/24's. i've had the x50 stock 24's car and the lag is pretty certain. hybrids ( for the same $ as any k24's would be, really..) the 16/24's really do provide you best of both worlds with the quick spool and the top end of the 24's. they too are "bolt on", and as long as you use gt2 i/c's or 997t ic's.. whatever... you'll be where you want to be without having to add any of the stuff you mentioned.
so.. flash, exhaust, 16/24's w i/c's and dv's and you're good. of course suspension stuff to match the increased power...
and down the slope you go
If you are paying between 1000-2000euro for all the parts is worth it. Is just a plug and play but you will need a new flash for the turbos.
Now if you want more power buy the turbos and make them k24/18g and that's it.
Good luck!
