rolling start? What levels of speed are you talking about? Because M5 can reach 200mph.

I switched from a s2000 too The 996tt definitely made me realize just how much of a "toy car" the s2000 is. The cool thing about the s2000 though is you can drive it close to the limit around town without being thrown in jail and have a lot of fun with it. The 996tt I don't think I have come anywhere close to the edge. And we all know cars are most fun when pushed to their limits.

Sales rep was really nice and let me take it out for a test drive - he showed me an area where I could stretch its legs a bit. I think my exact words were "holy $*** this thing is fast". Definitely the fastest car I have ever driven. The onslaught of acceleration was incredible - the S2000 feels so slow now. Need to hurry up and finish building our new house so I can upgrade. Very addicting...
What will you be using the car for around town and/or DD? If you track it and catch that bug you may also want to look at the GT3 - better for the track - the turbos are fun too just heavier and the minor turbo lag is a drag

Well I drive a four cylinder Honda Accord as my daily driver now (please stop laughing). I drive 80 miles round trip to work each day and need something cheap, good on gas and that is also big enough to put our two Whippets and my 3-month old in. We live in Cincinnati but all our family is in Cleveland so my wife and I seem like we're making trips up there every other week sometimes.

The S2000 is my fun / weekend car for now. We're about to start construction on a new house (just sold our current home last weekend) so I want to be careful about buying any new cars until everything is complete. The 996 would replace the S2000 as a third car. If I ever end up working closer to home I would probably drive it to work on occasion. I would also be interested in a track day or two as well.

My dream garage would be to have a modified 335i sedan as my daily driver with the 996 as the fun / weekend car. OK well maybe that's not my dream garage but that is my realistic garage. Few more years maybe... key is finding a job closer so I don't put all those miles on cars that are a bit on the expensive side to maintain.

My wife drives a 2009 red Audi A4 with the sport-package and a six-speed. Pretty nice entry-level luxury sedan and has some tuning potential with the 2.0T as well. Tried to talk her into a 335i instead but she liked how the Audi looked and drove better.

I'd be looking in the $40-50K range...

To any car lover, when you say 911 Turbo, there is an automatic sense of respect. You tasted the reason why!

It's all relative. When I step into a non modified TT, I kind of find it gutless. And I'm sure there's others who would find my car slow...
As somebody else stated, there's several levels of addiction. The good thing is that with the 99XTT GT1 engine they're relatively cheap to feed, unlike some of the Italian supercars where you'll drop 10K$ to gain 10 HP...
