First time driving 911 Turbo

A friend talked me into going down to take a look at a 2003 911 Turbo at our local Porsche dealer last night. We took my S2000 down - I've been thinking about upgrading from the S2000 to a 911 Turbo (996). Sales rep was really nice and let me take it out for a test drive - he showed me an area where I could stretch its legs a bit. I think my exact words were "holy $*** this thing is fast". Definitely the fastest car I have ever driven. The onslaught of acceleration was incredible - the S2000 feels so slow now. Need to hurry up and finish building our new house so I can upgrade. Very addicting...

Here is the car I drove:

Agree...very addicting.
Main thing I hear from others who are not really into cars is "you don't need all that speed".
Well, no I don't, but it sure is nice\fun to have!

Save your pennies!

I always knew they were fast and driven a couple (never getting to go full tilt with one)

Then one day I ran up on OS Inspector
My 4S got slapped around a bit. His acceleration was incredible.

* some will never understand.

If you drove one that was flashed and had an exhaust, you would have thought it was a land jet...

The thing has got a bit more torque than that S2000 engine. Talk about night and day differences in characteristics. See you again here soon.

I can assure you that the exhilaration of the acceleration doesn't go away (at least after 2+ years so far).

That's awesome, and I'm glad you're hooked. Powerbands like the S2000 are much more like the GT3 in that it's super slanted towards the top end of the rev range. When you have a turbocharged 3.6L (medium displacement) engine, you can really take advantage of a full powerband!

The best part, like other alluded to, is that you're going to be even more freaked out when you drive a modified example! Best wishes finding one to call your own soon!

Mine went in the shop 9 days after I bought it for an exhaust and tune. Now, 20 days later it already feels like it needs the 700 HP kit. Divexxtreme doesn't know it, but his new car ruined me for life...

I came from 2 s2000's. One supercharged and one with a big GT35r on it. I love the 996tt!!! no comparison!!

The Honda s2000 is still a good car. But not a super car like the 911 turbo.

well in southern california, i gave one a head start 5 times in a row and finally his wife in the passanger seat started laughing at him and he turned off.

there was no comparison all i had to do was hit boost and id pull 3-4 cars on him nearly instantly.

his car had atleast an exhaust on it.
