Hi guys

Has anyone raced either a c63 or m3 with a stock 996tt?

I have a cabrio tt and have met a few of these on the road in the wee hours but have never tried one on. On paper they're very similar. Curious to know what the reality of a race like this is.

 

Here are some comparative times on the Nordschleife at Nurburgring:
996 TT (not an X50) 7 minutes 56 seconds (7:56)
M3 (new version) 8:05
C63 8:13
SL65 8:14
E63 8:10

Gives comparison of overall performance in a "racing" situation where braking and handling also come into it. 996 TT is faster on these tests.

The M3 is not really in the same ballpark.

The C63 is a bit tougher but the 996tt should be faster. Assuming equal driving skills in both cars.

 

On a rolling start it's fine but off the line the tt tip is much more difficult to get in front.

 

I've raced the C63 when I was stock and beat him.

 

don't know if this will help, i raced a M5 when my cab was stock. off the line on the street he was only about one car in front.. i wanted to take him on the freeway so i could pull in 3rd and 4th, he told be i would take him if we did... our cars are fast stock. modded, they are wicked fast!!!

 

M5 is faster that 996tt stock!

Raced a 08 m3 when I was stock and beat it by a couple cars. Raced a 11 c63 a couple times when I had exhaust and c63 was stock. It was a drivers race but the 996tt has a little more power. Raced a 12 m3 its a little faster than the 08 but not enough to win. The same 12 m3 with full dinan mods was faster but it has about 500 bhp with those mods.

 

I have a 996TTX50 and a AMGC63 (non P31 option). The 996T beats it everytime in every situation except hauling 4 people and trunk space.

 

my 04 stock cab was faster than my 07 m6. I pulled a few cars on a z06 in the cab a few weeks ago, guy was not a great driver, removing that from the equation, 996tt is faster than an e9x m3 all day.

 

I have a 996 tt X50(Giac+Europipe).My 996tt was faster than ESS 575 E92 M3,stock GTR,Gallardo superleggera,M5,Z06 and few more.

 

M3 no problem. Mercedes is hard. Especially if it is unrestricted. Anything above 120mph and that amg is fast. Make sure you are on the ball.

 

I've owned all three (older M3 though). With just a tune C63, but 996TT has way more mod potential.

M3s don't have much mode potential.
