Hey guys.. last night I had to call a tow truck to take my TTS (auto) to the dealer.

When I turned on the car and started driving out of the parking lot, I noticed engine hesitation and reduced power (even going 15 km/h in the parking lot). It would almost stall if I give it a little gas, the RPM would dip really low (200-300) then pick up. Then the ABS and PCM-off warning lights came on. It actually stalled a few times, but it would turn back on every time no problem (weird..). I barely made it out of the parking lot then parked again and waited for the tow truck.

Any clue what may have happened?

Always disconnect MAF, then test drive before calling a tow. Not sure if this would have helped but something to consider.

agree on possible fuel pump. when mine went, any pressure on gas pedal led to stalling.

Yeah, there were fault codes from the MAF and torque converter. They're still checking it out.. .waiting for their call tomorrow.

The fuel pump failing came to my mind too... I once had this fail on my BMW X5 and it sort of felt similar, except with the Porsche I could idle it for a long time, so I guess fuel was still reaching the engine.

Will update as I get more info.

Sam- not to be cruel, but let us know how much it ends up costing...

So members can appropriately weight the wisdom of this board!

I was quoted about US$750 for the part and $90 labour. I live in Dubai so prices in other countries may differ.

^ Eh, actually I thought they'd screw you on a couple of hours to diagnose. Not bad.

And I do know Dubai pricing. What kills me, is not so much the cost- but the astonishing incompetence and shameless profiteering.

Just an update for the benefit of those who may have a similar problem. The dealer changed their mind about the MAF and found that I had a loose air hose leading to the turbo booster, so they tightened it back on and so far the car is OK with no codes.

ANOTHER update... got the ABS/PSM lights on again after a week with the same hesitation/stalling problem. This time got MAF replaced. Let's see how that goes.

FYI there are a ton of DIY posts on how to change the MAF which is literally 2 screws and takes maybe 30 seconds.... and you can get it for around $250-300 at various places... don't waste your having the dealer do this.
