Before i start tonight, Any tips on taping up this shift fork?

I got the transmission lined up, and the shift fork taped up. Once i slide the tranny closer the shift fork falls. Initially i used a magnet which seemed to be a brilliant idea until i realized it was preventing the trans to line up properly. So any tips on getting this shift fork in before i go at it again tonight would be great? TIA --Rob

Thats what i figured, but whenever i get close to mate the trans to the case the fork seems to wiggle its self out and fall down.

Yep, just like the guys are saying. I used black vinyl electric tape and ran it out the stater hole.

Late update: The tape worked flawlessly. Took my a while to find tape that would hold though, I used black 3m duct tape. It was a bit hard to remove once the tranny was back in, but finally all cam eoff the fork. Thanks again guys.
