Changed front brakes, ramp/jacking info inside
I changed my front brakes yesterday, was my first time jacking this car up - working on this car.
I ended up making some 'helper' ramps in order to fit my conventional Craftsman jack under the rear jacking point.
Used 2"x12" pressure treated wood
Cut the bottom section to @29" in length with a 45 degree angle up front
Cut the top section to @19" in length with a 45 degree angle up front
Screwed the top section to the bottom with some 2 1/2" wood screws
Positioned car, wedged the 'mini-ramp' under the rear tires and drove up to the top section. The 'mini-ramps' did not slide forward at all even though I rolled back from the first plateau to the ground one time. No problem getting my jack onto the rear jack point.
...and the front brake job went perfect (meaning I did not brake anything during the replacement of rotors and pads). If anything it was a logical, easy brake system to work on (Have done Audi A4 and Acura Integra in the past). Went with stock rotors and CoolCarbon pads.
Only question after inspecting the old pads was that the outside front pads were more worn than the inside pads - assume that is 'normal'. It was not like the insides were brand new and the outsides were spent - but there was certainly a difference in wear.
