More limp mode
More limp mode
I thought we had this settled after reading codes last time and finding "a momentary interuption between the ECU and ABS". Since the system seemed to be resetting itself everytime the car was left to sit, my tech didn't want to take my money to pressure test the system for leaks. His take on the code was that a piece of track rubber had gotten up into the ABS sensor and then had fallen back out.
So this past weekend I had a track event with NASA. I drove to the track in the morning and the car was boosting fine. My run group got called to line up and I sat idling for 5 minutes to let the car warm up before going on track. As soon as I went on track the car went into limp mode. So I drove it back into the pits after completing one lap. WTF? Then it started to lightly drizzle and I drove the car home. Guess what? I had boost again. ???? I got home and parked it overnight and the next morning skies were clear. I drove back to the track{30 mins. from my house} and I had boost on the way over. Waited until my run group, lined up, idled for 5 minutes, went on track and was in limp mode again. WTF? I drove it into the pits and wrote the weekend off. Hung around with my buddies for awhile and started to drive home. I went for WOT and was in limp mode. I drove for awhile and decided to try WOT again, and had boost. WTF? This is baffling.
If it's a leak, why is it intermittant? Could there be a heat problem from idling? The temp gauge was always in it's normal position. Are there any sensors that could be causing that? I got no idiot lights or CEL. This problem only appeared after having the transmission out of the car. What would be disturbed when dropping the trans? I am not a mechanic or DIYer.
I have already requested a pressure test with my tech and am awaiting an appointment date.
Any ideas or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
