Buddy: I'm sorry, but your figures for annual service aren't even close to reality. It always amazes me how so many people that have opinions on Ferrari ownership have never owned one. I guess it's a car that begets myth and fantasy.

Darren: Go for the Ferrari of your liking -- It's clearly the most exciting weekend driving experience you can have right out of the box -- no mods required.

Okay Jack,

Why don't you tell us what an annual service for an F355 cost? The Ferrari dealer told me they had to drop the engine, so what do you think or know that it costs???

The engine only needs to be dropped on a 355 to change the timing belts which is required every 3 years or 30,000 miles. Oil changes/services are required at 5K, 15k, and every 15k miles thereafter. Ferrari recommends that the brake fluid be changed/flushed every year. Also the tranny fluid should be changed at the 5K miles mark and then every two years. A service involving oil, oil filter, air filters, tranny, brake, coolant, F1 and power steering fluids (flush and fill) cost me about $1400 at a dealer. This was for my 360, but the costs are comparable for a 355, except that the 3 year/30K belt service does not require an engine drop for the 360 due to access panels in the firewall/rear bulk head. That adds about $1500 in labor for a 355 above that of a 360 at "dealer rates" of 125/hr. BTW, The 3 year major service which includes all of the above plus new drive and timing belts and a few other items (A/C, etc.) ran me about $3.5k on the 360. Hope this info helps. Of course, I don't recommend going 15K miles between oil changes.
