added an exhaust to my flashed car

One of the first mods I did was a UMW flash. Car definately felt faster afterwards and a true bang for the buck. I've enjoyed my car like this for a full year. Today I installed a RPI exhaust and I couldn't stop smiling on the drive home. Nice deep growl BUT the bigger advantage was the power. The 3" exhaust definately helps the car breath better and makes it a lot more responsive. This upgrade will keep me happy for a while as I save for a real suspension. Just wanted to share my experience.

Congratulations! I inherited my own 996TT with a reflash on stock exhaust over 3 years ago and just installed a freer flowing exhaust last month, so I know where you're coming from. It feels good indeed!

Nice! Your history sounds similar to mine. I bought my X50 bone stock except for short throw shifter, drove it for a couple years, then tuned,,,and WOW! Then I did 3" exhaust with another great addition of response and improved spool-up power! Thereafter I installed PSS9's and the car is now on rails and the ride improved drastically! Oh, what to throw disposeable income at next...???

I was so used to/bored with my power level with the flash that I thought I was losing power. I sent my baby into the shop to do a full boost leak test. They found nothing lol. So the exhaust has definately come at a good time and resparked the fun in driving my car. I wonder if the guys with big turbo upgrades get bored of the power after some time?

Why do you think so many guys keep going bigger and bigger, even after they have 800+ whp?

I actually went the other way and re-installed my stock exhaust when I was planning to sell car. Having the 3.0 Speedtech with 100cel installed now and can't wait. The stock exhaust certainly did cork up the power.

I'm going to dyno this combo this Sunday. New plugs, coil pack, and air filter just installed. Also did a boost leak test with zero leaks found. I'll report results Sunday evening.

Hey buddy,

In case you were talking to me, don't worry since the exhaust I went with was a 'low cost' solution. My long term dream exhaust (think lightweight, titanium, reasonably priced) is still coming out, and I have a feeling you know quite a bit about it!

Dynoed the car today on a SuperFlow WinDyn V3.2.
457.4 max hp at the crank
389.8 awhp
528.7 max torque

Do these numbers seem 10-20hp short for a car with flash/exhaust?

This was an organised dyno day for 10 local porsches. The shop told us that some things would be left out in order to fit everyone in the alloted time. I believe this is the reason why.
