Electric Cutout feedback

Guys,
I wanted to let you in on nearly the best mod for any car I have had. Electric cutouts!

I bought the car used. The previous owner had them installed.
I knew nothing about them.

They are an electric flapper valve Installed right after the turbos before the cat. There is one on each side. The pair costs about 300$
they have a flange that welds into the exhaust the valve bolts to that.

When open its just a header and turbos dumped to teh ground.
when closed it's right through to the exhaust.

I have had and driven many sports cars over the years. The sensory response you get from a good sounding exhaust can really change the driving experience. It totally transforms the ride. Only problem is many cars that sound good are obnoxious after a while and I mean only a little while if you drive on the highway or in traffic.

With the E cutout I get to have a stock exhaust, which sounds decent and does not attract attention and is a little restrictive.
Then whenever I want to truly experience how awsome these engines really sound. I open the cutout maybe a little (it's variable position) or all the way (totally reducing restriction) and lay into it. Often I only open them for a few minutes during some spirited driving... My wife calls it teh Loud button, I refer to it as sport mode. If come to a neighborhood or traffic or take a highway drive OR GET PULLED OVER press the button and Im STOCK again. They are not visable unless you clumb under the car.

Everyone I have taken for a ride LOVE it! You can really hear the turbos at low RPM and the Engine just sounds INCREDIBLE like the racecar it is at HIGH RPM! the exhaust blow down about 4 inches in from the bumper. Flames come out in hard throttle shifting! Then head to a shopping area and BAM quiet stock sleeper car (i don't like attention).

looks like DMH and QTP are the ones that google pulls up top.

forcefed1 - do you know what kind you have? since you said they are variable it sounds more like the QTP product.

anybody else have them on a 996tt?

i remember billystang had them on his car. He is local to me and was able to get a ride in it. I attempted to fit a pair of 3 inch dumps onto my b5 s4 with no luck, i am just too low to fit them.

I have those on my 73 dart 340 and they are pretty fun. I hadn't really thought about putting them on my turbo though. Didn't really think there was room.

thats kind of what I was wondering. seems like the turbo-bone is connected to the cat-bone and the cat-bone is connected to the muffler-bone.

didnt seem like there was any place to put them. although my cats are removed so maybe we could slot it in there?

forcefed1 - I would love to see the pics from your car.
my car is about to go in the shop so it would be an opportune time to do it.

I had them on my B5 S4...custom fit without coming down much lower then my DTS.

They're fun, but getting them to seal properly is a challenge and my biggest complaint.

The hot exhaust coming out doesn't damage things? WHen my exhaust flange broke on my other car, the exhaust melted some bushings that were nearby.
