2001 996tt vs 2012 GT-R

So on our way back from the Spring Fling Run 2012 up to TC, buddy and I decided to be ricers for a hot minute He's got a 2012 GT-R stock except for HKS titanium catback and I have FVD straight pipes and Tony's EPL tune. I was honestly surprised at the outcome, I thought he would have me by a car. I pulled on him quite a bit, about 2-3 car lengths even though it's hard to see in the video. He wants a rematch with dp's and tune

unfortunately, with dps and a retune, he will pick up those 3 car lengths and then some...

my buddy has a full bolt on car (with stock turbos) and just ran a 10.1.....so very impressive, but depressing at the same time! LOL.

But hard to let go of the boxer growl, although with DP's and a tune the GT-R's sound like Darth Vader's personal transport

I remember when I first got my 996TT, I initially installed an intake, exhaust, and flash...and went 11.6 @ 126 in it. From a roll, it was faster than a lot of cars were back then. Would have pulled a stock '12 or '13 GT-R at that level as well.

Nice job.

He doesn't need the DP's just the tune. 2012's (with midpipe) already run 10.9's - 11.0's). Tunes put them in mid-10's. DP's further that.

Thanks for sharing! Good luck on your next race!

M3ntal just ran a stock 2012 from a roll in his tune/exhuast/stock turbo car and the GTR edged him out by nose i think. his tune is old and choppy on the dyno, i can defiently see this outcome here with a better tune on the 996tt. this particular 2012 ran 10.94 stock

They do feel the weight from a roll, from a dig they r crazy fast.

I thought weight didn't affect as much from a roll because already moving (inertia)

Don't the 2012 997tt's have 500bhp? 2001's only had 420bhp stock for stock.

Had both. Both are great cars. The GT-R is better in certain ways and more well-rounded, and the GT2 is better in others.
