Seems the 997 will be a 05 model therefore fall 04 they will probably hit the dealers, its not 100% if Porsche is going to make a turbo but if they do it will most likely follow 2 years after.

Will there be a period of two years that they dont make the turbo
(like the transition between the 993 Turbo, and the 996 Turbo), or will they continue making the 996 Turbo untill right before the 997 Turbo comes out.

With the dramatic cut on production for 04 Turbo coupes, I would say a transition has begun, its about time.

Its not about time, I dont want my turbo to become obsolete.
JAS- All you need now is a Carrera GT, and you will complete your GT collection.

I view the reduction in turbo coupe production numbers as a very good thing for us all. I also view the lengthy time period between now and when the 997 turbo is introduced another very good thing in our favor. The used market should pick up since all new availability is limited to turbo cabs. No offense anyone, but I prefer the coupe over the cab any day. As the 997 turbo intro date nears, the 996 turbos will flood the market and then my prediction is that the used market bottom will drop out.
So, my advice, take heart for the time being that the used market prices will probably stabilize for awhile until maybe 6-9 months before the 997TT intro. And then.......sell, sell, sell.
Just my $0.02.

I think the whole 997 idea is retarded...The 997 is supposed to be a facelifted 996 for 2-3 years then the 998 a total redesign (like going from 993 to 996)...I honestly do not see the point of yet another facelift for the 996 (recall 996 got a facelift in MY02...)

Yeah, Porsche is the most unusual company in its automotive upgrades, you sometimes have to play the "which one is an upgrade, and which one is a new model" game. Mercedes, BMW, Audi ect. make cars that are produced for a certian amount of time, and then they are replaced by a new model (except for the S class, which had a somewhat major upgrade in '03).

So KPV, what you are saying is that the 996 turbos will become cheaper once the 997's hit the market?

jajo,
My OPINION is that they will become cheaper when the 997TT hits the market (not the 997NA).
Personally, I think they should have waited for a major facelift as Msindi suggests.
