Damon, can you get these (Sumis) in 315/25-19 and 225/35-19 ?

Drew's 996 is infamous around these parts
Just finished putting a set of Ventus on my car and with only two days driving I can't believe the difference. I'm not a track driver so on the street they seem pretty good and at just over a grand it hit my price point. Just my $.02 from two days worth of driving.

Ok,
First thank you all for your input, i am amazed at the sheer amount of feedback regarding tires.
After reading the good and bad reviews here, I decided to get the hankooks for everyday driving. If they suck really bad, I'll ditch them. One thing about any tires you get for the 911tt, is that you will be replacing them soon anyhow just because they wear out so quickly.
I want to get a set of 'premium' track tires, but i need an extra set of rims for them. So, if any of you in the bay area have an extra set of stock rims you would like to part with for a reasonable price, pm me.
Thanks all.

For everyday driving, they're fine and I imagine you'll be happy with them. The only problem with that rationale is that you have an everyday supercar and that alone gets you into stuff you might otherwise avoid. Whether intentionally or not. Something about the gas pedal and any second we have in front of us with no one ( hopefully ) watching. I'll put this another way: in conditions that might ordinarily activte the psm on our cars, the hankook v12's may cause you to experience more moments of uncertainty causing even greater amounts of adrenaline, than might have been produced had you been running ps2's or even bridgestones. So, it could even be said that hankooks v12's at speed are really for the thril seekers among us.

I'm kidding man, enjoy your car, and thrull be fine. At least they'll fit! nothing like new rubber.

I have the full set on my car for less than $900, so far so good.

Obviously not the stickiest tires available, but as quick as the rears go I'm ok with that. In hind site I would maybe go with a softer tire in the front since they last a long time in comparison.

They are not PS2s but they are great for the money.

I remember doing my research on these too. Looked around and mostly good stuff. Spoke to Damon at TR and he said they were pretty good as well. Made the order. I first got them on my MINI and loved them. Then got them for my M5, still pretty good. When the time came for the Porsche I figured I'd give them a chance. Very happy with them so far.

just to update you guys, i ordered the tires yesterday , they showed up this morning around 9 am.. wow. way to go tire rack. I brought them down to Holsers tires in santa cruz (in my truck) , then brought my car down there. they mounted and balanced then and put a patch on a trailer tire i had for $113... I tipped them $20 bucks . So the total i paid for these tires installed was 752.80 + 113 + 20 - 80 (rebate)= drumroll please,
$805.80... not bad.
Oh and my car did not slide off the road or spinout on the way home. yes, yes, i know these are not 'great' track tires, but they did get me home safely. I had them set the tire pressure at 39 psi rear and 33 front, maybe i should lower that a little bit to make up for the 'harder' compound... but i am not sure about it..
On another note, the ps2's i took off the rear didnt look that bad. it looks like there is still about 3/16 of an inch before the tires wear down to the wear bars in the channels of the tires. So i stashed the old tires in my garage. Hopefully a member here will have a set of rims they want to part with at a fair price.. scuffs are ok since i just want a track/auto x set of rims...

update 2

ok so the tires work and i am not dead yet. today i was bombing around town. I noticed that the tires definitely do not have the grip of the old ps2's. the grip well, but definitely not as well as the ps2's. it could be that i am running the rears at 39psi, so i will lower them to 35 and see if it changes at all. they seem to ride pretty well also..
still looking for another set of rims to mount some track tires on.

35-36 is good. Feedback sounds about right but like everything else you need to break them in. After a few hundred miles they will get even better. Enjoy!

as others have said, they'll scrub in ok, it's the first 500 miles that "can" be dicey.

I'm not a big fan of them. I was originally sold on them because of the supposedly longer life and the lower cost, but I find I only get about 7-8k miles on the rears. This is close to what I get out of the rears when I've used PS2 or similar tires but with a significant problem:
The Hankooks have more tread depth, but once they reach their wear limits in the rear, the fronts are too far worn and you can get PSM trouble because of the very different rotational diameters. This means replacing all 4 tires instead of the normal path with PS2 and similar tires where you get 2 sets of rears to 1 set of fronts.

One other issue is the widest size is only 305-30, and you really need a 315/25 if you want wider rears that match appropriately with the fronts.

For the turbo I think the Bridgestone RE05A's are the best bang for the buck. I had great luck with them at nearly 700whp.
I was running Hankooks on my E60 M5 before I sold it as well. No issues at all. Being in warm weather climates between AZ and SoCal I go through tires very quickly. I have no experience with these in cold weather, however.

i put a set of v12s on my M3 and they were great. sold it and got the porsche with almost bald inner rears( PS2s). they were extremely loud, i hated that. so i wrapped all four corners in v12s again. and yeah give them a few hundred miles to wear in. i took them to VIR 2 weekends ago, and they did wonderfully. probably not the best in grip but for street tires they were very predictable and did extremely well.

Only positive experiences in my case with Hankook tires. We have 3 vehicles all using Hankook V12's.

I have them on my BMW and GTI.

Pros:
* Great wet and dry traction;
* True bargain for the price;
* Very smooth and quiet ride.

Cons:
* The sidewall isn't very stiff and you can feel it on hard corners;
* The tires get slippery when hot but that's mostly a track issue;
* They wear pretty fast.

I will go back to g-force sports for the GTI. They are worse in the wet but wear better and have a stiffer sidewall.

I can't imagine getting more than 10k mi out of them on a turbo. Probably more like 6-8k for the rears.
