996tt stock vs x50 reliability?

I was researching but couldn't find a straight answer.

I read that since the k16 is a hybrid turbo, an x50's k24 would be more reliable?

Help? Pretty lost here...

This would be a stock daily driver (15,000 miles/year) run into the ground. Maybe a track day or two to see what it's about but most likely keeping performance stock.

No difference in reliability between stock non X50 compared to stock X50

not to be snarky about it, but you should re-read/search for a bit more understanding of these. many of us have shared your confusion surrounding the terminology and actual differences between stock k16's, k24's and hybrid 16/24's etc. i'm not nearly as knowledgeable as many in here, but i have hybrids and as i understand them? the "hybrid" k16-size ( hot side = turbine housing ) has a larger k24 ( cold side = compressor housing ) compressor built into the k16 housing. not the same as a stock k16 or the larger x50 ( or stock gt2 ) turbo. if any of this is incorrect, someone will hopefully correct it?

by way of example, i have the "older" style hybrid k16/24's ( with a tune, 5 bar fpr, and supporting mods etc ) and they're absolutely brilliant for the driving style i have. virtually zero turbo lag, and they are spooling at .1 bar with nearly any pressure on the throttle. once spooling, all bets ( and any potential lag ) are off. these do NOT run out of steam at the top end as many claim the stock k16's do. the only thing i run out of is space in front of me and cojones.

in terms of reliability? virtually no difference between the stock k16's and stock k24's and those are paired ( usually ) with the gt2 ( larger ) intercoolers ( a must ).

The Metzger motor is a racing motor that was mass produced. As such, if a car is properly set up, it will handle more than double the stock hp levels all day for a long time.

My car (just sold) was very reliable, pretty much the only time it was ever in the shop was for performance upgrades.
