MAF Numbers
What is the best Durametric test for the MAF and what should the numbers be? I have the ABS/PSM error codes and I need to rule out the MAF before I start searching esle where. Thanks again for your help.

Wow, I thought someone would have the answers to this.

With a simple voltmeter you can do a test of your maf: http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutor...af-basic-test/...But this test got his limits....
|
Thank You, I have cleaned it three or four times so I guess it's done. Time to buy a new one. :(
|
So what was your volt reading? I don't know what the value should be on a 996 maf but for 997, I believe anything over 1.1v indicates a bad maf and should be replaced.

My multi meter died so I was hopeing there were numbers I could look at on the Durametric that would tell me if it was good or not.

With the ignition selected without starting it should be .9 to 1.1 volt and with the engine at idle it should be 1.2 to 1.5 volts once the engine has warmup....
|
I guess I have another problem besides the MAF. With enigine off I have 1.04 and with it running 1.33-1.39. With the Durametric. :(
|
This test is a basic test and it is not completely accurate because the range of operation of the maf is a lot wider especially at higher rpm...
|
This running test was at idle. It was moving around the range I posted at idle

Log mass airflow sensor(hfm). This number should move freely as you rev the engine. If it's not moving the maf is dead. Normal range is approx 20-1500.

I must be missing something here. I have logged four sessions and I get nothing. I check the box to log the session and when I come back it is date/time stamped and has 1kb...blank.

Hi Guys,
Even with my shop not being sure about MAF, I have ordered a new one. I seemed to have bought someone elses problem car. I hope the Secondary air and cat eff. codes will clear with the new MAF...and maybe the PSM/ABS codes, but I don't think so. |
Thanks to everyone who helped me with this. I think the Durametric is the best tool anyone can have when you own a modern Porsche. I used it again today and found I have dead O2 sensor after the cat. This should fix the cat eff. code I have when I replace it tomorrow. I still have a secondary air code...maybe it will fix it also...any thoughts?

Look at changing the front psm looms there is a chance that they were damaged with the pss9 install, this may be the reason why you are getting the psm abs light. Should be cheap.

I have put this on the lift and looked at all of the wiring 8 or 10 times by know and haven't seen anything at all...With the evap problem now fixed I guess I will start changing other parts to fix this...
