I've used this stuff on the headlights of our Mercedes and it works fantastic. Very simple as well. There is no real reason it wouldn't work on Porsche headlights but they are quite a bit more expensive if you screw them up. Has anyone tried it? Here's how I originally found out about it: ($20 at Wally world btw)

I was warned against it as the layer that is applied looks great but eventually goes bad and then its a nightmare to get off.

I used a polishing kit on mine, basically, different grades of wet use sandpaper and then some polish for the final buff. They were truly terrible but now a hell of a lot better. They do still have an ever so slight milkyness. I was told the suns uv rays are what cause the damage and I suspect I will have to do mine again but at least it will only be a case of rubbing them down again and not trying to remove some hardened on goo.

I too would be keen to hear from someone who has had long term experience.

I used it on our Mercedes in Nov of 2009. Still looks great 2.5 years later. Unless you get a lot of sun exposure, I tend to think it will last a very long time. Since I will only put about 3-5k mi on the car per year and it's garaged the rest of the time, it might be ok?

Would be nice to be a little more certain though

The only PROPER and permanent fix is to sand out all the imperfections, and polish back the shine with a proper buffer and pad/polish. Keep in mind though that all plastic headlight covers have a coating on them and when you sand/polish you are removing this coating. The only way to keep that shine is to reapply a coating over top your work. Spar urethane or Optimum's Opti Coat will work well, though I lean toward the spar urethane. I've done a lot of headlight resotrations, and this is the ONLY way to do them.

How do you apply the spar urethane, spray? or brush?

I found a few places locally that will do it and indeed apply a new coating. I think I may go that route. The lights are too expensive to screw up. Not worth the $100 savings.

I found this, but like you say for 100 bucks why wreck 1500 bucks worth of headlights. Might still have a go though
