Brake Cel - Any suggestions?

Just recently I've been getting a Brake Cel light pop up

It says "Service Wear On Brake Pads"

The OBC shows I need to check my brake pads

I plugged the car into the Durametric, and each time I click on the "brake tab" on the left side of the screen I get more warnings pop up

When I click onto another tab the warnings stop

When I click it again, the warnings pop up again

The additional warnings then show up on the OBC

What to do? What to do?

I've given a quick visual inspection with the wheels in place and the outer pads and the discs look ok

What should I do before starting pulling things apart?

Is there anyway to narrow down which brake(s) could be at fault, or do I need to check them all one after another?

I'd obviously check them all anyway, but I'd like to get to the faulty one first if at all possible

time to pull the pads out. start with the front (unless it's been replaced last 20k miles) and then check the rears.

the systems won't know which corner triggered the warning.

Ok, I've removed the wheels and have taken some measurements
Some things are obvious, but others still have me wondering......

Passenger Side Front
Disc = 33.02mm
Inner Pad = 5.66mm
Outer Pad = 5.71mm

Drivers Side Front
Disc = 32.85mm
Inner Pad = 4.56mm
Outer Pad = 4.44mm

Passenger Side Rear
Disc = 27.72mm

Drivers Side Rear
Disc = 27.76mm

According to the measurments in the workshop manual my front discs are only half worn, and my rear discs are pretty much new

I've taken some pictures so everyone can see what I'm working with, as despite what the workshop manual says, my rear discs are corroded as ****

Front discs look ok and measurements are ok

Passenger front pads look and measure ok

Drivers front pads look like they're getting close to the wear indicator, but measure ok

Rear pads look and measure ok

Rear discs look ****ed, but measure ok
Why are the rear discs so corroded?

Anybody?

I'm thinking I need front pads & sensors, and rear discs

A friend of mine said the rear discs are so new I could get them resurfaced?
Is that a sensible option or should they be replaced?

You should replace your front pads. They are getting low. I think that you can re-use the wear sensors, but I wouldn't swear to that. I tied mine off a long time ago.

No need to resurface anything.

Thanks Jon

I broke one of the front sensors whilst removing for the pictures so I'll replace those along with the front pads

Car is DD street use, so I'm looking at Mintex or EBC Redstuff pads - Sound ok?

Can you have a look at the last picture in post number 8 again - The rear of the discs is seriously corroded, but the discs are still ~27.8mm thick (new is 28mm)

Can the rear discs still be used, can this corrosion be rectified, or should I just replace them?

I've just been reading about bedding in brakes and glazed brakes
Are my discs looking too shiney/glazed or are they fine with the exception of the rear faces?

I wouldn't use Mintex personally, not a fan ...

Used them on my B5 Audi S4 and had fading issues during semi-aggressive driving on the street.

I purchased a set of Cool Carbon's for the 996TT but haven't installed yet You can search, they seem to have a very positive following.

Good luck.
