I got to thinking about the 6262 comment too, those turbos on a 3.6l wouldn't spool until ~5,500 RPM, holy crap! That is going to be a small powerband, but would be capable of 1,400whp or so. Sounds like one crazy *** ride if you can get it to hook half ways decent. Can't wait to see more!

Displacement isn't the only variable affecting spool...

heh thats not math, thats guesstimation.

depending on what you mean by spool ( build boost, 1 bar, full boost, if so how much full boost etc). i dont think they will make 1400whp either, even at 40 pounds of boost

But it is BY FAR the biggest factor (unless you put nitrous or something in the equation or have the car purposely detuned to slow spool). I even said it was an estimate and put ~5,500 RPM in my first post. This is never an exact science, but I would bet it is within 300 RPM. Cams, tuning and compression also play a role in the spool.

1,400whp is very doable, there are many 2.0l EVO's running well over 700whp on a single (highest I remember seeing is 797whp). While that is a different platform, it proves that the airflow is there to sustain that HP. I wouldn't imagine the efficiency of the EVO and 996tt can be that far off.

its funny that we are arguing what is doable out of 6262s on this platform. keep in mind an Evo has 4 cyls spooling the turbo and we only have 3. so its like a 6262 on a GEO metro. to make 1400whp on this motor you need 6766 i would say at least.

Exhaust gas spools the turbo so displacement is the biggest thing, the number of cylinders don't matter too much. There is a slight difference as there are more pulses from higher cylinder counts, but the difference is very small. I hope someone has a really high redline if they try the 6766's, but I would love to see it! It is fun to debate some of these things, hopefully some others learned something from us going back and forth.

Tim, Have you checked to make sure fuel pressure is rising correctly? sounds very odd for them to be maxed out.
