Don't compare dynos.

Real world testing (i.e. Vbox...) is what you should be doing.

And run higher boost. Running the same boost pressure on bigger turbos won't necessarily yield more power

considering the fact that his car made more power on A28s on that same dyno previously and his current setup is not yet performing optimally. i would find the root of the problem before going and beating the crap out of the car and doing 130mph street pulls....

The dyno sheet doesn't look right for alpha3076s. Like Prodigymb said, the boost wasn't there. I say if there isn't a boost leak, it got to be the tune.

Dynos are not a good way to compare. Unless it's done on the same day, with the same operator....

not really. as long as you use same dyno for before and after and same correction factor. they are just fine. my 996tt has been on a dyno on 7 different occasions, not on the same day. B

en's dyno clearly shows there is an issue and that his boost is not nearly ramping up as quick as I would expect it. shifting the whole graph to the right, he also has an auto so comparing to mine isnt apples to apples. on another note when i made ~600whp on 1.0bar I was on E85 in 80 degree weather, he's on 93 gas in texas heat right now so those together are going to be worth quiet a bit.

unfortunately no updates really..

mechanic found a hose clamp that was broke thats about it. Car is still making crap power (500 whp at 21 PSI with a bad spool). I have been having white smoke lately, but only on startup and as I have said in the past, the AFRs look good.

nothing appears to be leaking from the engine

Mechanic is going to check the heads and pull the plugs and then do a compression test

if it was a piston ring, i would have thought it would be smoking all the time (not just at start-up) and the AFRs would be off and probably throw some codes

any advice on what to check is appreciated

thanks!

Did you say WHITE smoke? Do you have cats? why dont you start the car and take off the oil cap. Also look in there and see if there is any sign of water. Do a leak down too. Ben I feel so bad that you are having all these problems. BTW did you ship your car to Scott or just the motor?

Tim

ajay is infamous around these parts
A lot of 996's smoke on startup occasionally - i wouldn't freak about that point.

If all things remain the same - this sounds like it could be a transmission / clutch issue.
