Bought a 2003 996TT @4 months ago - want to look at some audio upgrades. Previous owner had done an upgrade late 2003. The receiver/headunit does not have an ipod option.

I believe the current setup has bypassed the Optical MOST system??...but I may be wrong.

What are some recommendations for an upgrade. (just replace headunit / go to a NAV display, go back to MOST?). I assume amp, speakers, woofers are fine.

Would like to keep it simple, but add ipod integration - I'm not an audio-head, will have a local installer do the work.

Current setup =
Alpine CDA-9813 headunit
JL Amplifier 500/5 5x channel amp
JL Subwoofers - 6" in an array behind rear seat
JL Speakers - FRONT = Dash, doors / XR653-CS 3 way component speakers. REAR = XR650-CX 2 way 6.5" coax speakers.
