997.2 intercoolers

I have read the many threads on the 997.2 intercooler upgrade and there is great data. That said I would like to get input from those that have actually done the mod and hear what actual improvements you experianced. Is this a mod that will build added HP only after a long pull or does it help at all times....

I have an 05 X50 with UMW tune that holds a steady 1.2 bar and Milltek exhaust.

Thanks!

Like an IC upgrade with good IC's, it will tell a difference after extended driving or heat soak. You probably have the 996 GT2 IC's on your X50, so they are better than stock std ones by a little. If you do not do a whole lot of extended hard driving you may not notice, but you will notice on a hot day for sure. I'd say if you can afford it, do it.

I do not track. I do a lot of 20-120 pulls in So Cal where it is pretty hot....

Appreciate the insights, trying to get a feel if this will aid in making more HP in daily driving conditions....

I agree with Prche951.

If you're mechanically inclined, the ~$1000 you'll spend is well worth it. In Arizona, where it's 100+ for half the year, it's needed.

Your 20-120 pulls, if they're back to back and you're constantly beating on the car, you'll notice a difference in the later pulls.

If you do it once in a while, you may not notice it as much.

I asked about the track because you're constantly pushing the car so the larger IC's make a big difference.

The IC's won't make more power, but they will keep hot conditions from robbing you of more power. So on a hot day, you may keep 30-40 hp that the stockers would have lost you.
