Dedicated tank for race fuel

Guys, I am wondering if anybody did that, I would put a 5gal tank in the front trunck, add some reliable fuel lines and a switch. After that I will be able to switch btw pump/race maps and back on my own with almost no risk

This might be even better that emptying your main tank and add race fuel aso

Any ideas ? I have a local shop that says will do the job for me, but wanted to verify first if anybody else have already done that

is your fuel return going to go back in the regular fuel tank or the 5 gallons?

No, but this way I will run like pump+meth but even better, race gas will be there everytime I need it.

I am living in Europe since a kid, there is a greek tuner based in Romania that promised he can do the work

I am considering this and a light engine build also, dont know why we dont have E85 here, for sure will be everywhere in a couple of years... till then I am thinking of maybe a flashloader to switch btw pump and e85... still asking and learning what others did already

an extra tank CAN work but it will need additional pumps and plumbing. when you run that special fuel you aslo want the return line to be switched to put it back into that special tank and not into the main tank. otherwise it will empty it out fairly quick and it will just mix all the race fuel into ur main tank. so you not only to to "switch" the fuel feed but the return as well. also the power to the other pumps to make sure they are off when the car is running. its a lot more complex then it sounds.

You don't need 2 sets of pumps or anything like that. Get your current tank sumped and then run inline pumps just after the switch. For the return line you would also need a switch. The problem is the fuel in between the 2 switches will get dumped in the wrong tank each time you flip the switch. So your race gas will get diluted a little and your pump gas gets a little extra octane.

I have seen it done and it works pretty well, just more complication and things to go wrong too.

i am curious if you have ever worked with the 996tt tank in question here and have seen the layout of the factory fuel pump with feeder jets and tubes?

i have and i do not think there is any way to even remotely come close to accomplising this sump project intank due to the complicated fuel pickup system and plastic fuel tank.

It would actually be really easy on the 996tt, the tank is already sumped from the factory with the 2 extensions that go lower around the front diff. Toss a feed fitting in each one of those and Y them together, then off to the switch, then the pumps. You would obviously have to run all new SS lines doing a fuel system like this and scrap the stock stuff.
