First drag strip experience!!

OK,
I wanted to see where my money on mods is getting me last night so I went with a friend who has a crazy eclipse to a drag strip up in New Hampshire. My tank was too full so I could not fill up with 100 octane and use my 640HP program. I used the IA600 instead.
I must say,m on the first run (out of two), I reved up to 3K RPM then let off the clutch slowly but the car was slipping like crazy and I could not get traction!! (It was below freezing and the track was slippery - especially the launch pad!!). I let off the clutch and I am already in redline in 1st and had to shift to second...My start SUCKED so I will not post my time...My trap speed was 119MPH though!!
Second run as worse!! I was told to leave PSM off as I did first time round but to rev to 5K RPM then dump the clutch...I was racing against an RS6 whos been trying the whole night!! Anyway, I rev to 5K, let off the clutch and nothing'!! redline first, redline second, redline third and the car still did not move!! It did go in 4th and although he beat me by 4 seconds I managed to get the same trap sepped as him...I think my clutch was slipping so I will probably upgrade that soon!!
It was a lot of fun to say the least. I do need practice and help on launch technique, all tips welcome

When it's that cold and you have traction problems.. let some air out of the tires. The softer the better.... Sounds like the track prep was awful though. You shouldn't be spinning that much...

Eric it was New England Dragway in Epping. There is only 1 dragway in New Hampshire and none in Mass and or in Maine.

Thats a really tricky drag strip... were you on the right side or the left... I think one side is more slippery than the other.. I ran 13's with my M5, and I almost got kicked of the track because I told the guy it did high 15's so I didnt have to wear a helmet.. I guess under 14's you need a helmet.. If you had drag slicks you would have hooked up like crazy....You car sound amazing by the way, that was a nice take off out of the gas station. I guess BostonRocket has gotten bitten by the Turbo bug as well

Mansour:

Sorry to hear about the dissapointing times, but you have to remember how cold it was (2.5 degrees celcius ). That track is slippery to begin with, so the cold air did not help at all. At least you have a starting point to go with now and I am sure you will improve your times on your next run.

I've been driving my car every second I can before the snow comes. It's aroung +2C to +8C here in the mornings. I find the tires very hard and can get the car a little sideways without pushing it too hard. (a great way yo start the day!). I am not surprised at all with you lack of traction, particuliarily given your 600+ HP on a cold surface with cold tires. It's going to be a long winter!
