Possible 996TT purchase

I came across a 2002 911 turbo recently with 57k miles. By no means am a 911 expert, I come from the turbo Subaru world. I was actually in the market for a 2013 STI when I came across this. My understanding is that the 3.6tt is a very sturdy engine but IMS noise and rear main seal leaks are common/expected. Just curious as to what else I should look for and maybe someone here will recognize this car. Here's the 911 in question

That problem is mostly in the Non-Turbo 996s

Good deal if all checks out. Not too many issues with the TT. 2nd gear popout, spoiler hydraulics failing and in some rare cases, the coolant lines detach themselves and need to welded for a permanent fix.

Parts and maintenance will be quite a bit more than a Subie though.

Well I checked the VIN on it and the only thing that kind scares me off from it is this

05/22/2007 NASSAU COUNTY, NY
State Agency COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE (Case #:32246778)

That explains the price. If everything is well documented without major damage, it could still be ok but I would want all the info.

Mine was in an "accident" as well but they only had to repaint the rear bumper (small fender bender), nothing else was broken or replaced.

Dealers claims they didn't know that so I may try to get them down a little on it. What's involved in the 60k service?

That's hard to believe. I can't imagine a dealer taking in a car without running the VIN# ?! Seems a little shady to me. I also imagine they won't have any info on the accident. Get a very thorough PPI! Major services are every 30k.
