Key Question

So I have a question. I need to program a key for my car. I have someone who can program everything, but I need that long code that comes with the key. Is the number on the attached tag the same as the one painted on the front of the key head by any chance?

I'm told if you lose that tag, you're SOL... Time for a new key.

Not so fast there fella... You're still going to have to pony up to the dealer to program the thing. Where I live, that's another $100 or so.

Normally that would be the case. However I have a local friend who is a former master mechanic. He still has all his Porsche computers and will program it for me. I have all the codes from Porsche. Had I had the tag on the key I have, it would have been done yesterday.

Where did you get the replacement key from for $137? I thought the retail on them was closer to $249?

It's unfortunate that if you lose that paper tag you're SOL. You'd think they'd be able to look it up by your VIN if you have your original keys...

Primepartssuperstore.com $127 before shipping. That's just the head, not the blade FYI. Suncoast also had them for $129. According to the dealer list is 174.

My key showed up today. I didn't overnight or expedite it. I ordered it around 11 yesterday morning. I am thrilled and would buy from these guys again.
