Thumbs up USP Motorsports 996TT Turbo Inlet Pipes - HUGE GAINS

One of our favorite performance mods for these cars:

CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO !

- Increased HP and TQ through the entire powerband
- Gains on both stock turbos and upgraded turbos
- Approximately 50% larger diameter piping over stock to allow more free flowing air into the turbochargers
- Quicker spool up time from your turbochargers producing more power sooner
- Constructed of 2.5" aluminum piping, TIG welded in-house at USP Motorsports

>> Detailed info about this powerful upgrade in this thread <<

These inlets showed gains on both low and high boost levels, so no matter what kind of horsepower you are making these are always an improvement over stock inlets. On low boost, our test subject 996TT made over 30whp peak, and over 40wtq in some parts of the RPM range.

Replaces your restrictive factory turbo inlet ducts with the USP Motorsports 2.5" aluminum turbo inlet pipes. Dyno testing at our facility proved that these inlet pipe upgrades will gain spool up time (more power sooner), and overall horsepower & torque throughout the entire powerband!

This is an excellent upgrade, with gains that can be clearly seen and felt!

Please note: As with many modifications on these cars, it is necessary to remove the engine to install this part.

I think this is the best mod. Even on stock turbos. should be done when you change your clutch.

Now you say that after I just had my gearbox out. Next time I go in there, or sooner, I'm getting these based on your recommendation.

Do they require a change in the tune?

Concur! One of the better and more overlooked mods.

USP, where was your boost pressure tap?

ok let me ask the obvious. the y pipe exchange is the large piece at the top? so you use the oem y pipe and fab 10 pieces of 2.5" ss tubing for 850$? what am i missing? im not knocking the product but if the biggest part is reused why the high cost?

I can understand it. You have to build the pipes and ensure they fit with the engine back in the car. It takes time to engineer the product. You're not just paying for some pipe and welding...

actually thats exactly what your paying for. the engineering and fab work was done yrs ago all the r&d is already done.
if this was a new product i could understand it.

I see about 8) U bends, 3) 2.5 silicone couplers, 2) 2.5 x what ever reducers, hose clamps and the welded stub on the factory piece. You price that up then get some one to fab it. Oh wait they will need to drop your trans only if they are good. if not they will need to drop the motor too. Oh if they put the coupling in the wrong spot then you cant get to the hose clamps or pull the motor with out trashing the end of the pipe because it was made to long and its in the way of the trans passing the sub frame. I have made this two times myself, at this price I would not even consider making them again. I have been there done that and know that this is a good deal when all is factored. the hp/spool increase is worth the price on its own.

The tubing is not stainless steel, it's aluminum. Furthering your point about the cost, perhaps.

That said, as Tim mentions, there's a fair amount of labor that goes into this to get it right, and it's not like there's an enormous market to recoup R&D from. If you haven't already noticed, the "Porsche tax" is like the "Mercedes tax" on steroids.

The idea here is sound, and it allegedly is a great mod - one I will do, if/when I ever have the clutch upgraded. Many vendors offer the same idea/concept - you just have to determine if you prefer welded metal tubing, hard plastic piping, or vacuum cleaner hose.

No re-tune needed for this.

Tee off the Fuel Pressure Regulator, right on the intake manifold.

Chris - your 996TT's performance is amazing, especially for an 18g car. An E85 pioneer too, if I'm not mistaken... which seems to be becoming all the rage these days.

Any updates/progress on your motor build? IIRC, you started a build-thread, but I don't remember seeing many follow-up posts in it...?

Thanks - enjoy your weekend.
