Schnell Short shifter now installed with linkage
Schnell Short shifter now installed with linkage
My 996TT left me stranded a couple wks ago after the cheapy stock plastic lower shifter linkage busted with around 40K miles on her. I went with the Schnell upgraded linkage and short shifter. I'm really pleased! It feels exactly like I was wanting. The throw is short, precise and it has a nice "in gear" feedback. The new linkage looks strong. I did have to remove that green plastic piece of the lower factory housing for the thicker linkage assembly to move easily. What is that green piece for anyway? It is a quality product at a great price. I know they had issues in the past, but the new design is great. I would highly recommend it for someone looking for a short shifter and a linkage that will not leave them stranded, and at a very good price. There may be others that are more suited for other people, but my 996TT feels like a race car now. Very pleased! Here is the link. Got it in 4 days. Thanks VERTEX!

sorry if this is irrelevant at all but did any of you have the 997 ssk in previously before? It's great and all but I get a few shifts once in a while where it feels pretty rough. Also, it clicks when I go into gear ALL THE TIME. any advice? If not, would this schnell set up be a good alternative?
I think most people prefer the 997 ssk, from what I've read on the forums, but I couldn't be more happy with the Schnell shifter. I have read post about that clicking, and have no experience with that. Someone posted a mod to the housing with a flat, thin piece of sheet metal that supposedly helped????
