Another spoiler failure - Upgrade suggestions needed

Well add me to the list of those with a broken rear spoiler. A few thousand miles ago I had the "Failure spoiler control" warning pop up on one drive, but it went away and didn't return. This past Saturday it happened and this time it hasn't gone away. For the time being I've just yanked the fuse with the wing in the up position.

I already have the MA Shaw GT2 front bumper and I'm considering going to their GT2 rear wing now too. I've seen a couple of threads on just leaving the stock wing up, but I've always wanted a GT2 wing so this is a good excuse to go with the upgrade.

Any other suggestions from everyone on the best wing to go with? Personally I'd prefer something along the lines of the GT2 wing and not anything similar in size/design to the stock wing. I've seen a few wings in people's picture threads but it's really hard to find them now that I need to! Any help from those of you that have swapped wings including pictures and the source for your wing would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Here's the car as it sits today:

I like the fixed in he up position stock wing. Get rid of the hydraulics and disable the wing in the Computer. The kits is around 150.00

Where can you get the kit from?

Just as an FYI, the full replacement kit for the spoiler rams is about $1400 from Sonnen Porsche. My rams are just now starting to exhibit issues and my car is a '01 model. I was originally thinking I was going to do the GT2 conversion, but $1400 is not really that bad if you do the labor yourself. I am confident you cannot do a GT2 deck/spoiler (painted and installed) for that price. Last thought, new spoiler hydraulics will likely last another 10 years or so.

Not trying to sway you, just offering up an alternative.

Chris.

Hey Chris. Why not just do the mod to leave the wing up permanently? I think the car looks better with it up anyway and it's 1/10th of the price of the new hydraulics. For now I'm just going to keep the fuse pulled until I decide what to do. I can live with the "spoiler failure warning" popping up a few times every drive.

I can get a good quality aftermarket GT2 rear decklid for $1500 and my local paint guy said he'd do it for somewhere between $3-400, so that puts me at just under $2000, which I think is a pretty good deal. I still really want a carbon rear wing blade though so I may have to spring the extra $500 for that and make it $2500 for the whole deal.

You know, if I were to do anything like that, I would likely mod it to keep it down.

I'm on the fence about the GT2 rear decklid and spoiler. I think if I were to go that route, I'd want to do the front end to match; you know what I mean? - and that's where the conversion (front and rear) gets costly and pushes me back towards fixing the spoiler drive.

On a side note; that strosek spoiler looks really nice to me. I might have to add that puppy on at some point.

Chris

I thought my wing had failed. It would go up but not down. Never got the light on the dash though. I sprayed the pistons with WD40 and it works perfectly again. So everytime I was the car I lube the pistons and so far so good.

PS, Sorry for going off topic.
