Btw John. My exhaust showed 25awhp and 19awtq gain over a milltec exhaust with 100 cell cats while my exhaust had 200 cell cats.
At what power level were you at? But I could believe that..
I still do like your X- pipe merge design the best.. I just dont want something that loud and that drone .... But IF I go to 3071 turbos ,I will need it to get a bigger exhaust..

Also I wonder how a stepped pipe would work for keeping the drone down because that would be great for velocity while still being somewhat less restrictive....Perhaps a 2.5 to 2.75 to 3'' for drone concerns..[/QUOTE]

It was on a 100% bone stock 997 Turbo. pm your email and i will forward you the graphs.

Very nice, I as well have a very similar exhaust but made by AE performance.

I also did an Rs4, and there was no drone at all. Car was loud, but inside it was all good. Just one of those easy cars I think, like Subarus. You can put just about anything on them and it just works.

Updated my original post with a video. My first time filming, editing, uploading and posting a video. Hopefully it came out well and the link works...

Nice video. It sounds great to me! The droning does not really come across on the video, or maybe you have to be at highway speeds?

Yea the video couldn't pick up the drone. You can hear my buddy and I discussing it when it's at its loudest. It's just a very specific frequency that's hard to record (which is probably why videos of other exhausts also make it seem like drone isn't an issue). So if we can address it, the exhaust will actually be pretty quiet in the cabin.

But, as you can tell the exhaust sounds sooo good outside the car. And WOT is pure sex. If I wasn't such a perfectionist I'd just keep the revs above 3000 rpm and call it a day. But I'd like address the issue instead of just driving around it or throwing mufflers at it

I agree. Addressing the issue is the best course of action. In the end, hopefully you can have your cake and eat it too. I would want to be a able to drive around normally without the drone.

Hopefully an update on the way. Used science and he is pretty happy with it.
Going to tweak the look, but it is likely this is a "cake and eat it too" deal.
Drove the exhaust this time before sending it out, and wow, these cars sound so good WOT with a rowdy exhaust.

I've got a big update coming :-)

For inquiring minds: The exhaust is simply amazing. Chris has managed to completely eliminate the drone but keep the straight through 3" design and the aggressive sound. In other words, it is perfect.

Catless. It's a really nice treat inside and out.

Nope. The drone in the cabin is completely gone. My wife is really sensitive to noise and she was fine after a 2 hour drive. Not only that, but she actually loves the way the exhaust sounds.

The exhaust is catless.
