I'd also add..."Driver must "fit" in the car" (I can hardly get in and out of the Lambo or Ferrari without hurting myself), and "Driver must fit inside the car, and have good sight-lines while driving."
This discussion is too funny, just like the bazillion "my car is better than your car" threads that have gone before it. The ratings are ridiculously subjective, according to what attributes you most value, so making any objective judgements is a waste of time. Yet Comparo's sell magazines, so they do them.
To a certain extent, though, newest model usually wins, if for no other reason than people aren't bored with it yet. And the magazine writers know this, and know what sells magazines.

No doubt about it, the new Vette is a nice looking machine. Too bad I have to stand so far from the urinal which doesn't allow me to qualify as an owner. I also don't like wearing 20 pounds of gold chains around my neck and I am also taller than 5'6".

As a matter of fact, none of the 20 people I know who are on the list fit that description. But then again, I'm sure all 911 owners fit their stereotypes as well, right?
What is with the ridiculous sensitivity towards ones public image and allowing it to be the #1 "gripe" for what is WITHOUT question an absolutely amazing sports car is completely beyond me. I simply cannot fathom it. I'm not here to **** 911 turbo about the Z06, this is a 911 board and here the 911 is king. I respect that, but to "poo poo" a car based on that stereotype is comical at best.
I guess you know you've done something right when that's the best thing someone can come up with against your car.

Just saw the segment on Car & Driver TV, & got the article today. I wonder why they did a 911 Turbo S CONVERTIBLE for the test. It might well have edged out the Ford GT for 3rd place if it was a regular coupe. They commented on how it was heavy & leaned hard in the corner (also a small amount of cowl shake) that would have been alleviated somewhat if they had used a coupe. Stated weight was 3840 lbs, I'm sure the coupe would have been lighter than that by a bit. probably even helped the already impressive acceleration stats a bit.

You heard wrong. The F430 is faster at Fiorano than the CS, according to Ferrari test drivers. But, the CS cheated, anyway. It rides on P zero corsa (semi-slicks). Nevertheless, the F430 is definitely faster than a Gallardo. Case Closed!

911 is not King. My new to be here in three days Diablo 6.0 is king in my mind, but the 996 TT may be King from the stand point of four seats, reliability, cool, great performance and it ain't American. The CGT, Enzo, McClaren, F50, Murci and bunch of others out thre are maybe kings also. There is a reason that 996 TTs sell for the price Porsche asks and that Chevy sells the Vettes at its price point.
I almost like the new Vette, but I still wouldn't buy. I prefer the cars I have and am willing to pay the extra dollars to get exactly what I really want.

I don't think anyone is really serious about the stereotype thing. It is all in good fun.

I was originally looking for a 996TT as well, and I agree with paying more to get more, hence my E55 - but the idea of a sub $70k car I can beat the hell out of and will perform so well in the world of supercars is just incredibly tempting. If I had gotten into a 911TT I would definitely feel more "reserved" about beating on it, racing it, etc simply due to the high cost of admission. The Z06 on the other hand offers world class performance at a price point that's easy to digest for me. One day when I get to the level of some of you guys I'll be able to view $150k cars in the same light I see $70k ones now

That would have placed the Gaylardo in dead last if I was testing it. Doesn't matter how great the car is if the clutch won't last for a fricking test session.
