help with bad car buy

I recently purchased a 02 tt from a small dealership. before purchase i check carfax which was clean and had a ppi done at a porsche dealership. the ppi and dme showed that the car was clean and they only thing noted was that the clutch was hard. So i figured clutch slave accumulator and i was good. anyway this weekend a week after i purchased i get under it to switch the slave and notice there is really bad corrosion everywhere turbo heat shields are almost rusted through, its leaking up front, has a small coolant leak and the kicker the car has had some paintwork done on it. looks like to fix rock chips on rear quarter panels. all this **** in my opinion should have been caught during the ppi. probably other stuff i dont even know about yet.

So i started doing some googling and phone calls and found out that the owner of the small dealership i bought the car from used to work in the Porsche service department where i had the car PPI done.

i feel like ive been scammed badly is there anything I can do? I'm to the point i almost want to drive over there and just beat the guy senseless to feel better.

PPI done at a dealership?? Dig up the report and the invoice for this work and read it FIRST! You also signed a work order for the PPI. On that work order , you should find the complete work YOU asked them to do. Dig it out and see what you ordered / paid for. Let us know.

I doubt you have any recourse... should have seen the car first hand.... or asked the hard questions prior to the purchase.... and never let him take it where he wanted it....
good luck

I would keep my cool and check with a good local lawyer as best course of action because without one they probably will ignore you. There is always something to get one upset after purchase but this is extreme.Do not do something rash that will get you into real trouble and good luck.

i had aporsche multi purpose inspection done. I chose the dealership to do it because it was the only porsche dealership in town. i went and saw the car but its not like i can bring jackstands to a car lot and look under the car. Im more wondering if I have any recourse through the porsche dealership that did the inspection. it really seems like there was some collusion on the part of th service deptartment to give this car a clean bill of health when it was so obviously not.

Yep, I would talk ( walk over) to the Dealership and request the detail of the findings / checks/ inspection / work done... see what they have written down.

Not all PPIs are created equal. Not all check paint or even have a paint meter.

you dont need a paint meter tosee over spray all over the bottom of the car and wheel wells. its so obvious when you get under the car its feels frauduent that they would not note it on an inspection. im going to contact a consumer fraud lawyer on Monday to see if i have any recourse at all.

You don't need jack stands to ask to put it on the lift. Doubt
you're going to get any relief. Caveat emptor. Good luck anyway

I guess my thinking is why did i pay a 3rd party porsche dealer to inspect a car if they didnt actually inspect it.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune and the only way you are going to come out any good would be if you talk to an attorney or else Porsche won't do anything.

I have said before many times before and will say it again....THE MONKEYS at PORSCHE dealerships have no FRIGGEN clue what a PPI is

I hope you have documents from the xxcking dealership where they did the PPI?

About all you have on your side is consumer fraud laws. Gather the paperwork and call the consumer fraud department in your area, county, and talk to someone there to see how much of a "case" you have.

Generally the consumer fraud agency will require you make an attempt to reach an agreement with the other party.

So what you do is you go back and mention that the PPI failed to turn up obvious things. You did not get the skill, experience and care you were led to believe you would get from this PPI.

Thus you believe you were a victim of consumer fraud.

Now, the question becomes what recourse are you seeking?

The buy back of the car? Well, you might get that but maybe not. However, when you talk to the consumer fraud people they might give you an idea of what is a reasonable recourse. And this might be it. I do not know and just to be clear I am not a lawyer.

Unless you and the other parties can reach an agreement then you will be forced to file a consumer fraud complaint against the seller and perhaps the PPI.

First off sorry you didn't get what you thought you were buying.

A big question is, if you have the mechanical knowledge to replace the accumulator, you obviously know your way around cars somewhat. Why didn't you inspect the car thoroughly, especially underneath before buying it?

I got a PPI from a Porsche dealer before buying mine and they used the very comprehensive CPO checklist that covers over a hundred items. I still checked the car very well before parting with cash and my car had less than 15K miles and looked brand new top to bottom, in and out.

How thorough was the PPI you got? Do you have what they checked in writing and your report does not agree with the actual condition? Or was your report very general?

Wishing you luck regardless.
