This may sound crazy but go to Walmart and pick up a battery from there. My buddy swears by them. They are $99, direct fit, and come with a 3 year warranty. I put it in my car and its been perfectly fine.

I installed this unit in my car about a month ago: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product..._996TT_Engineb

The battery weighs 48lbs as I recall. The cranking amps are 1520 and it is a really nice battery. My only comment on installing this battery is that it fits perfectly in the tray, but the bracket that locks the battery into the tray must utilize the very last hole in the tray. On my car, that hole did not have threads under it, only threaded on the other two holes. However... Since it was at the end of the tray essentially, I used a pair of needle nose pliers and slid a nut under the tray to create threads for the hole, bolting the bracket securely in place.

The battery works fantastic and man the car really cranks now... I also paired this with the Porsche battery tender.

I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

Chris.

Oh yeah there you go... I recall the UPS label on the box was 48lb or so, but who's counting...

I had a lightweight Braille on one of my other cars; after being stranded a few times in the heat and a lack of amps to crank the motor and fire it up, I swore I'd never run a lightweight battery in a street car again.

This battery flat rocks.

I have the optima red in my S4 which runs the same 54lbs battery and has worked very well. No CCA issues with it and any weight saving is worth the time. When the one in my P-car starts going, I'll do the same upgrade.
BTW, if you guys think getting the batt out of the P-car was heavy, try doing it in an S4 where I think it's twice as hard because of the reach. Saw a person post on Audizine how they had to devise a hoist system to lift the battery out with his wife and son

why do you guys remove weight from the front? Seems to me the front end is already too light compared to the rest of the car....

Lower center of gravity. Front light can be cured with alignment, suspension, driving style and some front aero.
