I'm trying to figure out why some 996 Turbos of the same year came with the half circle tips and others with the bubble style tips? Was it a specific date that determined which you got or an option?

I can't remember if it was an option or not. But a lot of people have the dual ones. I decided to keep the oval tips on my custom exhaust, because they conform to the shape of the bumper cut out better. It's just a matter of personal taste though.

 

Must have been an option. It always shocks me how much those OEM exhaust tips sell for!

 

Some people call those dual circle ones X-50 tips BUT my car was a X-50 and it came with half oval ones ,stock..
Yes ,the price for factory tips is ridiculous..

 

Mine came with the dual circle ones and it is not an X-50. I thought for sure it would be that starting a certain date they updated to the dual circle one but I see 2003's with the half oval ones so I was confused.

 

I've got the dual circles but actually prefer the big ovals.
