01 996 Turbo Radar Hardwire issues

I have searched and read every radar hardwired thread out there so far and I am completely lost. I don't want to splice any wires. I have a 01 Turbo with no sunroof or auto dim mirror. I looked everywhere for the phone port under the console and did not find it anywhere. Tried looking up the fuses everybody recommended and nothing. I tried fuse c5 as most have said. Any help would be much appreciated. I need to hardwire two things, radar and audio bluetooth (Micus bluebridge). Thank in advance.

Why are you against using a wire tap ?

Out of curiosity.

I just don't want to mess up anything by splicing into a wire. I've done it once a long time ago and it was more of a headache then it was worth. I have the fuse tap. I am still lost as to why I don't have the phone connector wire. Previous owner had a gt2 console delete and wonder if its jammed under anything. Looked everywhere.

I suggest tapping (cig lighter) but if are really against it the fuse block will work.

The cig lighter is not switched. Yes, I am trying to do it through the fuse box but cannot find a switched fuse to do it in. The unused ones just don't seem to work. Did all cars come with the phone power port? Or was it only with select options. I don't have a sunroof, full power seats, heated seats, bose system or auto dim mirror.

I found it difficult to find switched power attached to the accessory switch of the key. All of the switched power I found were attached to the ON or running position of the key. Did you check for power in the ON position?

I am thinking about using this:

to get the power, instead of cutting the wires.

Just use an external cord.

That will work. Go to the fuse box to the left of the drivers footwell. You don't even have to piggy back onto an existing fuse as you will have several open fuse slots. Just get a meter to test which terminals are switched on with the ignition. Plug it in there and you're good to go. You can tuck the wire to the radar detector under the rubber weather strip on the A pillar and there is plenty of room to tuck it under the roof liner over the mirror. Simple 1/2 hour DYI. Have fun.

That's exactly what I am trying to do, but cant find any switched fuse. I hate having the wire from the radar at the top of the windscreen to the lighter and want it switched. I'm thinking about taking the entire console and center units out to look for that elusive phone connector.

Then mount the detector as low as possible on the windshield. That way the cord isn't hanging down in your field of view. This mounting location has two other advantages:

1. It maximizes the ability to detect laser.
2. For many drivers (it depends on sitting height) it gets the detector out of the way from where you normally look while driving.

Radar detection is not operationally affected when using a low mounting position.
