You ask him to save you a parking space at the Courthouse.

850 hp? Garrett is confident that he can dial in 750 hp to the wheels at 1.3-1.4 bar. I was going to go with 1.6 bar, but if I can hit 750 awhp with less boost, even better . . . I do not want to go much beyond 750 awhp for fear that it will tear apart my drivetrain. GIAC is going to stop at 750-770 awhp or 1.6 bar, whichever they hit first.

Craig,

Car looks mean. Not as much of a "sleeper" now, but who cares when you have 750hp?

Awesome...is that a Techart Front Spoiler II? If not, what is it and where did you get it? TIA.
It is "similar" to a Techart Type II, but substantially less money. Speed Gallery has many sources for very reasonably priced body parts. I did a lot of research and SG had the best prices on the best products (as opposed to the vendors offering cheap, but poor quality, body parts).

allan, all that work and craig is still using the ruf exhaust? they don't make any hp if anything he probably is loosing power.

craig, it will be a beast. sick. becareful! can't wait to see the results!
I am currently using a modified Ruf exhaust (I removed the cats). However, I will be scrapping the Ruf altogether in the next week or two and having a custom exhaust made by a local shop that specializes in custom exhausts for race cars. Given that I will not be using cats, I should have enough room to put a straight through muffler directly in between the turbo and the tips, with a slight bend after the muffler and before the tip (the tip is a couple of inches off axis from the turbo). I will probably use a Borla XR-1 racing muffler similar to this:

I presume that most Porsche after-market exhaust manufacturers retain power robbing chamber mufflers (similar to the OEM chamber mufflers) for sound attenuation. A straight through muffler, such as that depicted above, is FAR less restrictive than a chamber muffler and will therefore generate more power and faster spooling -- it will also be lighter. Race cars that are required to use mufflers (certain race classes require mufflers) use straight through mufflers, such as that depicted above, rather than chamber mufflers. I would go with a straight pipe, but everyone I have spoken with says it is simply too loud. I am hoping to strike a balance with a straight through muffler, diminishing some of the sound, without losing any power, nor causing any lag.

BTW, I will likely be selling my Ruf exhaust (with the cats) if anyone is so interested.

I resisted after-market body parts for a long time, instead focusing primarily on performance enhancing modifications. However, with my new set-up, the stock body just didn't seem appropriate. Moreover, the after-market body parts began to grow on me (in part because of guys like you and the look of your car). The final straw was when I had to order my new EVO air box . . . the box for a GT2 wing is different than the box for an OEM wing, and I had to decide once and for all whether I was going to remain stock looking or modify the body.

Craig, how do they plan on testing hp? You car is a TIP, isn't it. Are they going to pull the engine?

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. This has been a long and windy road, but I appear to finally be near the end. I am eternally grateful to everyone who has contributed to this project, including Speed Gallary (they have been the general contractor and the source of many key components), Imagine Auto (they built the engine), Ultimate Motorworks (they supplied the turbos), EVO MS (they supplied many key components), GIAC (programming today, as I write this), and TPC (they supplied the new suspension.

The programming is being done on Dan's car from Speed Gallery. Dan's car has the same set-up as mine, with the exception of the internal engine components and the exhaust -- most importantly, it has the same turbos, fuel system, throttle body, and intake. GIAC is going to run Dan's car up to 750-770 awhp solely to create a program for me, then back it off for Dan's program (until Dan builds his engine in order to handle the additional power on a daily basis). Therefore, while I will not know exactly what my car does, I will have a pretty good idea. My car should generate more engine hp than Dan's car given that I do not have cats and I will soon have a much less restrictive exhaust. On the other hand, I will lose more hp through the tranny. The net result should be awhp similar to that generated on Dan's car.

Craig, thanks. I'd be interested in knowing how the transmission handles the added power.

Do plan tracking or drag racing the car? Or is it just a toy for the street?

Sharky's standard Tip handles similar power levels, so I am hopeful that my reinforced x50 Tip will do so as well.

The car is primarily a daily driven street car, although I do plan to take it to the track occassionally and perhaps a trip of two to a quarter-mile strip just to see what it is capable of.
